Description

Dosage form

Cream for external use 5% white or almost white, homogeneous.

Structure

acyclovir 5 g

Excipients: propylene glycol, white soft paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, poloxamer 407, sodium lauryl sulfate, dimethicone, glycerol monostearate, macrogol stearate, purified water.

pharmachologic effect

Antiviral drug for external and local use.

Acyclovir is active against Herpes simplex types 1 and 2, Varicella zoster virus, Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus.

Thymidine kinase of cells infected with a virus through a series of consecutive reactions actively converts acyclovir to mono-, di- and acyclovir triphosphate.

The latter interacts with viral DNA polymerase and is incorporated into DNA, which is synthesized for new viruses.

Thus, defective" viral DNA is formed, which leads to suppression of replication of new generations of viruses.

Pharmacokinetics

With repeated use of the cream, systemic absorption is minimal.

Side effects

Local reactions: sometimes - short-term redness, itching, peeling, burning or tingling in the areas of application of the drug.

Allergic reactions: rarely - allergic dermatitis (more often associated with a reaction to excipients)

in isolated cases - Quincke's edema
