Pharmacological action of
Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic action, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, thus eliminating swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx.
Facilitates nasal breathing in rhinitis. Xymelin Eco does not contain preservatives. In therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the mucosa, does not cause hyperemia. The action occurs in a few minutes and lasts for 10-12 hours.
Indications
Acute respiratory infections with rhinitis (runny nose), acute allergic rhinitis, hay fever, sinusitis, eustachitis, otitis media (to reduce swelling of the nasopharynx).
Preparing the patient for diagnostic procedures in the nasal passages.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, thyrotoxicosis, surgical interventions on the meninges (history), pregnancy, children under 2 years old (for Ximelin Eco 0.05%) children under 10 years (for Ximelin Eco 0.1%).
Precautions
Diabetes mellitus, functional class III – IV angina pectoris, prostatic hyperplasia.
During lactation, the drug should be used only after a careful assessment of the benefit-risk ratio for the mother and the child, it is not allowed to exceed the recommended dosage.
Special instructions
Do not yourself exceed the recommended doses and use the drug for more than 7 days. If after this time the symptoms persist, you should consult a doctor.

Xymelin does not affect the ability to drive a vehicle or equipment.
Dosage and administration of
Ximelin is administered intranasally, for adults and children over 6 years old - 2-3 drops or 1 dose of spray, for children from 2 to 6 years old - 1-2 drops or 1 dose of spray in each nasal passage 1-3 times a day. Drops 1 mg / ml - for adults and children over 6 years old, drops 0, 5 mg / ml - for children from 2 to 6 years old, 1 mg / ml spray - for adults and children over 6 years old, 0.5 mg / ml spray - for children 2-6 years old. Xymelin is used no more than 7 days. Do not use in children under 2 years old without a doctor's prescription.
Side effects
With frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion.
Rarely - swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, insomnia, visual impairment depression (with prolonged use of high doses).
