Pharmacological action of

Pharmacodynamics of

Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with a 2-adrenergic action, has a fast and prolonged vasoconstrictor effect on the vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminating edema and hyperemia of the mucous membrane. Facilitates nasal breathing in rhinitis. The action occurs in a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, Evkazolin Aqua is practically not absorbed, plasma concentrations are so small that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications

relief of symptoms of acute rhinitis of various etiologies, sinusitis

adjuvant therapy of acute otitis media (to reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa)

preparation of the patient for diagnostic procedures (rhinoscopy).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The drug Evkazolin Aqua should not be used during pregnancy.

It is not known whether xylometazoline is excreted in breast milk, therefore, women who breast-feed their children should only take the drug when, according to the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the baby.

Composition

1 g nasal spray contains:

Active ingredient: xylometazoline hydrochloride (in terms of 100% substance) 1 mg

Excipients: benzalkonium chloride (in terms of 100% substance) - 0.15 mg, eucalyptus oil - 1 mg, disodium edetate dihydrate - 0.15 mg propylene glycol - 60 mg macrogol 1500 - 50 mg povidone (15) - 7.5 mg hypromellose (5) - 0.5 mg polysorbate 20 (tween 20) - 10 mg sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate - 0.5 mg potassium dihydrogen phosphate - 1 mg water for injection - up to 1 g

Dosage and Administration

Intranasally. Adults and children over 6 years of age - 1 injection in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment depends on the course of the disease and should not exceed 5-7 days in a row.

After the end of the course of treatment, the drug can be prescribed again only after a few days.

Side effects

With frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa, burning and paresthesia of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, hypersecretion of the nasal mucosa, swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmia, arrhythmia, HELL, headache, vomiting, insomnia, visual impairment depression.

Overdose

Symptoms: fever, bradycardia, increased blood pressure.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Storage conditions

In the dark place at a temperature of no higher than 25 РC.
