Water for injection is not used for dissolving and diluting medicinal products for which another solvent is indicated as mandatory.
pharmachologic effect
Water for injection has no pharmacological activity. It is used as a solvent for the preparation of infusion and injection solutions, providing optimal conditions for the compatibility and effectiveness of substrates and water. Water is the basis for various transfusion drugs, biological tissues and fluids (blood, lymph, cell plasma, etc.), it is necessary for metabolic processes. Under normal conditions, water is excreted in urine, feces, sweat, and breathing. Fluid loss through sweat, breathing, and feces occurs regardless of fluid administration. Maintaining adequate hydration requires 30-45 ml / kg / day of water in adults; in children - 45-100 ml / kg, and in infants - 100-165 ml / kg.
Pharmacokinetics
With the introduction of constantly alternating water and electrolytes, the maintenance of homeostasis is carried out by the kidneys.
Side effect
Determined by the side effects of the drug for which water for injection was used to dissolve or dilute.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding is determined by the instructions for use of the drug for the dilution of which water for injection will be used.
special instructions
Water for injection is not mixed with oily injection solutions. Medicines, the concentration of which must be within certain limits, are diluted with water for injection strictly within the specified limits. Special control over the amount of injected solutions prepared using water for injection is required in newborns and young children, in whom, even with the introduction of small volumes, imbalances in the water-electrolyte balance are possible. If the tightness of the package is broken, the content becomes cloudy, water for injection should not be used. Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms The effect on the ability to perform potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions is determined by the properties of the drug, which water for injection was used to dissolve or dilute.
Drug interactions
When mixed with other drugs (infusion solutions, concentrates for the preparation of infusion solutions, injection solutions, powders, dry substances for the preparation of injection solutions), visual control for compatibility is required (pharmaceutical incompatibility may occur)
