DESCRIPTION
Vishnevsky's ointment is a combined preparation for external use, has an antiseptic and wound healing effect.
COMPOSITION
Vishnevsky's ointment contains 100 g of xeroform 3 g and birch tar 3 g as active ingredients, as well as auxiliary substances (refined sunflower oil and veterinary or medical vaseline in equal volumes) - up to 100 g.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Xeroform has a bactericidal, astringent, anti-inflammatory, mild analgesic and hemostatic effect. Xeroform is able to bind to proteins of cell membranes of various pathological microorganisms, thereby leading to death of microbial cells. The drug provokes the effect of dehydration and partial coagulation of proteins, which protect the tissues involved in the inflammatory process from irritants. The drug enhances local blood circulation in tissues, stimulates cell division, increases the flow of tissue fluid, accelerates the healing and regeneration processes of affected tissues. Birch tar is a plant product containing benzene, cresol, phenol, xylene, toluene, resins and other substances. It has antiseptic, insecticidal and local irritating effects.
APPLICATION
Vishnevsky's ointment is intended for the treatment of abscesses, opened carbuncles and boils, burns, dermatoses, long-term non-healing wounds and ulcers (including trophic), skin leishmaniasis as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing agent.
Vishnevsky's ointment is used only externally in the form of compresses, bandages and tampons. Before applying a bandage, the wound should be cleaned of necrotic tissue, open the blisters and rinse with an antiseptic solution.
On the affected skin areas, the ointment should be applied in a thin layer 2-3 times a day or a gauze bandage soaked in the preparation should be applied. Change the dressing every 2–3 days. On top of the purulent wounds with a gauze bandage with the drug, parchment or compress paper is applied. A long course of treatment is 6–20 days, until the infected area is completely cleared.
OVERDOSE
In case of an overdose of Vishnevsky Ointment, local allergic reactions (rash, itching) are possible. Prolonged use in an animal may cause skin irritation. In some cases, allergic manifestations are possible.
SIDE EFFECTS
The peculiarities of the body's reactions when using the drug have not been established.
Livestock products during and after the application of Vishnevsky Ointment are used without restrictions.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The interaction of Vishnevsky Ointment in combination with other drugs has not been described.
It is forbidden to use Vishnevsky Ointment after its expiration date.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The ointment should be stored in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children at temperatures from 0 В° C to 25 В° C. The shelf life is 36 months.
