Vetmedin S 10mg for the treatment of heart failure 50 tablets
DESCRIPTION
Vetmedin (Vetmedin) - a drug for the treatment of heart failure in dogs. In appearance, the drug is an oval-shaped tablet, rough, brown in color with white blotches, the company logo, symbols and a line for breaking into two equal parts.
COMPOSITION
1 tablet of the drug contains 10 mg of pimobendan as an active ingredient (DV), respectively, as well as auxiliary substances: anhydrous citric acid, croscarmellose sodium, maize starch, lactose monohydrate, povidone 25, meat flavoring, colloidal anhydrous silicon and magnesium stearate.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Pharmacotherapeutic group: cardiotonic agent.
Pimobendan, which is part of the drug Vetmedin, has a positive inotropic and pronounced vasodilating effect. In contrast to cardiac glycosides, the positive inotropic effect of the drug is due to an increase in the sensitivity of cardiac muscle fibers to calcium. The vasodilating effect is associated with inhibition of the activity of phosphodiesterase III. Due to the presence of a positive inotropic and vasodilating effect in heart failure, the drug increases the force of heart contractions and reduces both preload and afterload.
After oral administration, pimobendan is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, its bioavailability is 60 - 63%; the half-life of the compound in blood plasma is 0.4 В± 0.1 hours, and the half-life of its active metabolite is 2.0 В± 0.3 hours. Most of the metabolites of pimobendan are excreted from animals through bile in the faeces.
According to the degree of impact on the body, Vetmedin belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 in accordance with GOST 12.1.007-76), does not possess sensitizing, embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic properties.
PURPOSE
Vetmedin is used in dogs to treat heart failure caused by dilated cardiomyopathy, bicuspid or tricuspid valve insufficiency, which is accompanied by characteristic symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, fainting, decreased activity, exercise intolerance or ascites.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Vetmedin is administered to animals orally 1 hour before feeding. The dose of the drug is prescribed by the veterinarian, depending on the severity of the disease and the condition of the animal.

Vetmedin is available in the form of tablets or capsules. The daily dose is divided into 2 doses and given 1 hour before feeding in the morning and evening. For details, see the instructions for use.
For a more accurate determination of the dose corresponding to the weight of the animal, the tablet can be divided along the break line into halves.
With congestive heart failure, dogs are used for life with the selection of an individual dose.
