Anthelmintic drug with a broad spectrum of action, most effective for enterobiasis and trichocephalosis. Causing irreversible disruption of glucose utilization, it depletes glycogen stores in helminth tissues, interferes with the synthesis of cellular tubulin, and also inhibits the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
Pharmacokinetics.
Practically not absorbed in the intestine. The half-life is 2.5-5.5 hours. Communication with plasma proteins - 90%. Unevenly distributed throughout the organs, accumulates in adipose tissue, liver, helminth larvae. In the liver, it is metabolized to a 2-amino derivative. More than 90% of the dose is excreted in the feces unchanged. The absorbed part (5-10%) is excreted by the kidneys.

Side effects:
Dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain.
When used in high doses for a long time, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, allergic reactions (skin rash, urticaria, angioedema), increased activity of hepatic transaminases, hypercreatininemia, leukopenia, anemia, eosinophilia, hair loss, hematuria, cylindruria.
Overdose:
Symptoms are abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. When used in high doses for a long time, reversible liver dysfunction, hepatitis, neutropenia.
Treatment is necessary to remove the drug from the stomach, causing vomiting or doing gastric lavage, taking activated charcoal.
Interaction with other drugs:
Reduces the need for insulin in diabetic patients. Joint administration with lipophilic substances should be avoided.
Cimetidine can increase the concentration in the blood, carbamazepine and other metabolism inducers - lower it.
Special instructions.
With prolonged use, it is necessary to monitor the peripheral blood picture, liver and kidney function.
During the day after ingestion, the use of ethanol, fatty foods is prohibited, a laxative is not prescribed.
Be sure to periodically examine smears of the anal area and feces after the end of treatment, therapy is considered effective in the absence of helminths or their eggs for 7 consecutive days.
