DESCRIPTION
Vermidin tablets (Vermidin tabulettae) - tablets for oral use for deworming dogs. In appearance, the drug is a light yellow tablet with a greenish tinge, inclusions are allowed.
COMPOSITION
As active ingredients, the drug in 1 tablet weighing 0.55 g contains praziquantel 40 mg and pyrantel pamoate 200 mg; and as auxiliary components, potato starch, milk sugar, croscarmellose sodium, gelatin, calcium stearic acid.
PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Vermidine tablets are combined anthelmintic drugs. The combination of praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate, which is part of the preparation, provides a wide spectrum of its anthelmintic action on all phases of development of round and tapeworms parasitizing in cats and dogs, including Toxocara canis, Toxocara mystax, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenochoma spp. granulosus, Alveococcus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum.
The mechanism of action of praziquantel and pyrantel is based on inhibition of fumarate reductase, persistent depolarization of helminth muscle cells, disruption of energy metabolism, which causes paralysis and death of helminths and promotes their excretion from the gastrointestinal tract.
After oral administration of the drug, praziquantel is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a maximum concentration in the blood plasma after 1-4 hours, and is distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal; excreted from the body mainly in the urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours. Pirantel pamoat is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged action on helminths in the intestines; is excreted from the body mainly unchanged with feces (93%).
Vermidine tablets, according to the degree of impact on the body, are classified as moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses they do not have a sensitizing, embryotoxic and teratogenic effect.
