Infusion of rhizomes with valerian roots exhibits a mild sedative effect. Sedation occurs slowly but stably enough. Moreover, the drug has antispasmodic properties.

Valerian rhizome with roots.
Dosage and administration
About 5 g (1 tablespoon) of the raw material is placed in an enamel bowl, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of hot boiled water, cover and insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature 45 min, filter, the remaining raw materials are squeezed. The volume of the resulting infusion is adjusted with boiled water to 100 ml.
Infusion is prescribed orally 30 minutes after eating: adults - 1 tablespoon 3 to 4 times a day, children over 12 years old - 1 tablespoon 2-3 times a day, children from 7 to 12 years old - 1 dessert spoon 2-3 times a day, children from 3 to 7 years old - 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day.
Shake the infusion before use.
Side effects
Possible general lethargy, weakness, drowsiness, depression, decreased performance (especially when used in high doses), with prolonged use - constipation.
In some cases, the development of allergic reactions is possible.
