Pharmacological action

Antifungal drug with a wide spectrum of action. Active against: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophyles, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton tonsurans, Penicillium chrysogenum, Penicillium notatum, Absidia corymbifcra, Mucor miehei, Paccilomyces varioti, Fusarium solani, Madurella grisca, Madurella mycetomi, Allescheria boydii, Cladosporium carrionii, Cladosporium trichoides, Philophora jeanselmei, Philophora pedrosoi, Philophora gougcroti, Ilormodendrum dermatitidis, Pyrenochacta romeroi, Leptosphacria senegalensis . The antifungal effect of cyclopirox is based on inhibiting the entry into the cell and inducing the elimination of components necessary for its vital activity from the cell. It has an antibacterial effect against gram-positive and most gram-negative pathogens. Suppresses the development of mycoplasmas and trichomonads.

Fungal diseases of the nails.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Due to the lack of clinical experience, the use of BatrafenВ®, nail polish, in children under 10 years of age, as well as in women during pregnancy and lactation, is not indicated.

Special instructions

To prevent the varnish from drying out, close the lid tightly after use. To prevent the cap from sticking, avoid getting varnish on the thread. After opening the bottle, the drug can be used for 6 months, subject to storage conditions.

During treatment, it is not recommended to use cosmetic nail polish. With prolonged external use of the drug, sensitization phenomena are possible.

Composition

Composition per 1 g of the preparation:

Active ingredient: cyclopirox. - 80 mg

Excipients: butylhydromaleate and metokietileia copolymer (50% solution in isopropanol), ethyl acetate, isopropanol.

Dosage and Administration

Externally. Before the first application of Batrafenά nail polish, the maximum possible number of affected nails should be removed with scissors and a nail file should be filed with the remaining nail plate to create an uneven surface. The varnish is applied in a thin layer on the affected nail 1 time every other day during the first month, during the second - 2 times a week, during the third - 1 time per week. Once a week (e.g. on Sunday) the varnish is removed using an ordinary solvent or after a warm panel is scraped off, while the growing affected part of the nail plate should be removed with scissors again. If the varnish coating is damaged in the period between varnish application, then the varnish should be applied again only to those areas of the nail where the varnish coating is damaged.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the lesion of the nail plate with the fungus, but the treatment period should not exceed 6 months.

Side effects

Local reactions (rare): itching, burning or skin irritation, flushing and peeling of the skin near the affected nail are allergic reactions.
