Trimetin 100 tablets

DESCRIPTION

Trimetin (Trimetin) - tablets for oral use for the treatment of calves, foals, lambs and dogs in diseases of bacterial etiology. In appearance, the drug is a round, flat tablet with a line from white to white with a cream shade.

COMPOSITION

1 tablet contains as active ingredients: sulfamethoxazole - 400 mg, trimethoprim - 80 mg and auxiliary substances: calcium stearate - 0.0102 g, starch - 0.0707 g, carboxymethyl cellulose (MCC) - 0.0952 g, talc - 0, 0204 g, lactose - 0.0034 g.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacotherapeutic group of the drug: sulfonamides. The mechanism of action is due to the double blocking effect on the metabolism of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause infectious diseases in animals. Sulfamethoxazole, which is structurally similar to para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), is captured by the microbial cell and prevents the incorporation of PABA into the dihydrofolic acid molecule. Trimethoprim reversibly inhibits bacterial dihydrofolate reductase, disrupts the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid from dihydrofolic acid, the formation of purine and pyrimidine bases, nucleic acids; inhibits the growth and reproduction of microorganisms.

After oral administration, both components are rapidly and almost completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum antibacterial concentration in the blood is observed 3-4 hours after taking the drug and is maintained at a therapeutic level for 12 hours. Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim are excreted mainly in the urine. According to the degree of impact on the body, the drug is classified as a moderately hazardous substance (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).

INDICATIONS

Trimetin tablets are used in calves, foals, lambs and dogs weighing more than 7 kg for diseases of the genitourinary system, respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, salmonellosis, colibacillosis, as well as for other diseases, the causative agents of which are sensitive to sulfamethoxazole.

APPLICATION

The drug is used individually for calves, foals, lambs and dogs weighing more than 7 kg - at the rate of 1 tablet (0.68 g) per 15 kg of animal weight, orally, twice a day, until the clinical signs of the disease disappear and for the next two days, but not more than 10 days. During treatment, animals are provided with free access to water.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindications for the use of Trimetin tablets are diseases of the hematopoietic organs, optic nerve, acute hepatitis, nephritis, B12-deficiency anemia, and hypersensitivity to sulfa drugs. It is forbidden to use Trimetin tablets to animals with developed cicatricial digestion.

OVERDOSE

Overdose symptoms: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, weakness, abdominal pain, drowsiness. The use of Trimetin tablets in these cases is stopped. The animal needs to undergo a gastric lavage and provide an abundant drink.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

The peculiarities of the action of the drug during its first use and withdrawal were not revealed.

Avoid skipping the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic effectiveness. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.

With increased individual sensitivity of animals to sulfonamides, loss of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting are possible. The use of the drug in these cases is stopped immediately.

Interaction with other medicinal products has not been established.

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 7 days after the last use of Trimetin tablets. In case of forced slaughter earlier than the established deadline, the meat can be used as feed for carnivores.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

Store Trimetin tablets in the manufacturer's sealed packaging in a dry, dark place, separate from food and feed, at a temperature from minus 20 В° C to 20 В° C. The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of manufacture. It is prohibited to use the medicinal product after the expiration date.

PACKAGING

The drug is produced in the form of tablets weighing 0.68 g, packaged in 100 pieces in polypropylene cans with a high-pressure polyethylene sealing element or in polyethylene bags, hermetically sealed. Each unit of consumer packaging is supplied with instructions for use.
