DESCRIPTION

Trichovet (Trichovet) - a drug for the treatment of animals with bacterial and protozoal infections. In appearance, the drug is a clear liquid from light yellow to yellow.

COMPOSITION

Trichovet as an active ingredient contains metronidazole - 50 mg in 1 ml, excipients: methyl-a-pyrrolidone, water for injection, propylene glycol.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Trichovet belongs to the drugs of the nitroimidazole group.

Metronidazole is active against anaerobic bacteria (spore- and non-spore-forming), trepan, amoebas, histomonads, balantidia and Trichomonas.

The mechanism of action consists in the biochemical reduction of the 5-nitro group of metronidazole by intracellular transport proteins of anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa. The reduced 5-nitro group of metronidazole interacts with the DNA of the bacterial cell, inhibiting the synthesis of nucleic acids in it, which leads to the death of the microorganism.

When administered intramuscularly, metronidazole quickly penetrates into the blood and other tissues, including the walls of the gastrointestinal tract. After a single intramuscular injection, therapeutic concentrations are maintained for 48 hours. About 30-60% of metronidazole undergoes biotransformation in the liver; excreted from the body mainly with urine and to a much lesser extent with feces.

Trichovet according to the degree of impact on the body are classified as low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).

PURPOSE

Trichovet is used in pigs to treat dysentery caused by Treponema (Serpulina) hyodysenteriae and anaerobic microorganisms, as well as balantidiosis (Balantidium suis). Cattle and dogs are used to treat trichomoniasis and giardiosis.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Trichovet is used intramuscularly twice with an interval of 48 hours: to pigs at a dose of 1 ml per 1 O kg of body weight for dysentery caused by Treponema spp., And 2 ml per 10 kg of animal weight for balantidiosis; cattle and dogs in a dose of 1 ml n'a 1 About kg of animal weight.

In severe cases, the drug is administered once a day for 3-5 days. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 10-15 days.

If the volume of the injected drug exceeds 1Oml, it should be administered to animals in several places.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

The peculiarities of the action during the first use and upon discontinuation of the drug were not revealed.

Trichovet should not be used during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in newborn animals.

Avoid gaps in the introduction of the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.

Slaughter of pigs for meat is allowed no earlier than 15 days, and cattle after 18 days after the last use of the drug. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used after heat treatment for feeding fur-bearing animals.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindication to use is hypersensitivity to metronidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives; the first third of pregnancy; lactation. It is not recommended to prescribe the drug in case of severe hepatic and renal dysfunction.

SIDE EFFECTS

Possible side effects when using the drug: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, erythematous rashes, pruritus, dark urine, allergic reactions. When prescribing the drug in accordance with the instructions, side effects and complications are usually not observed. In the event of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is discontinued and antihistamines or other symptomatic treatment are prescribed.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of production. It is prohibited to use the drug after the expiration date. Store the medicinal product in the manufacturer's closed packaging in a dry place protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature of 5 В° C to 25 В° C.

The drug is produced packaged in 100 ml bottles in glass bottles of appropriate capacity, sealed with rubber stoppers, reinforced with aluminum caps. Each consumer package is supplied with instructions for use.
