Tetracycline tablets 100mg, No. 20

  • Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to tetracycline, incl. pneumonia, bronchitis, pleural empyema, tonsillitis, cholecystitis, pyelonephritis, intestinal infections, endocarditis, endometritis, prostatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, brucellosis, rickettsioses, purulent soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis; trachoma, conjunctivitis, blepharitis;

  • acne;

  • prevention of postoperative infections.

Inside for adults - 250-500 mg every 6 hours.Children over 8 years old - 25-50 mg / kg every 6 hours.

pharmachologic effect

Broad-spectrum antibiotic. It has a bacteriostatic effect by suppressing the protein synthesis of pathogens.

Active against aerobic gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp. (including strains producing penicillinase), Streptococcus spp .; gram-negative bacteria: Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Bordetella pertussis, Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp .; anaerobic bacteria: Clostridium spp.

It is also active against Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Spirochaetaceae.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus spp., Serratia spp., Most strains of Bacteroides fragilis, most fungi, small viruses are resistant to tetracycline.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, 60-80% of the dose is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Rapidly distributed in most tissues and body fluids. Penetrates through the placental barrier, excreted in breast milk. It is excreted in the urine and feces unchanged.

Side effect

From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth, glossitis, discoloration of the tongue, esophagitis, transient increase in the activity of hepatic transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin concentration, residual nitrogen.

From the side of the central nervous system: dizziness, headache.

From the hematopoietic system: neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, eosinophilia, Quincke's edema.

Dermatological reactions: photosensitivity.

Effects due to chemotherapeutic action: candidal stomatitis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, intestinal dysbiosis.

Local reactions: soreness at the injection site.

Others: hypovitaminosis of B vitamins.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Tetracycline is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.

Penetrates the placental barrier. May cause long-term discoloration of teeth, enamel hypoplasia, and suppression of fetal skeletal bone growth. In addition, tetracycline can cause fatty liver infiltration.

Application for violations of liver function

Contraindicated in liver failure.

Application in children

Contraindicated in children under 8 years of age. The use of tetracycline in children during the development of teeth can lead to irreversible discoloration.

Preparations containing metal ions (antacids, preparations containing iron, magnesium, calcium) form inactive chelates with tetracycline, and therefore it is necessary to avoid their simultaneous administration.

It is necessary to avoid the combination with penicillins, cephalosporins, which have a bactericidal effect and are antagonists of bacteriostatic antibiotics (including tetracycline).

With the simultaneous use of tetracycline with retinol, the development of intracranial hypertension is possible.

With simultaneous use with cholestyramine or colestipol, tetracycline absorption is impaired.
