pharmachologic effect

Drug for the treatment of nicotine addiction, n-cholinomimetic.

The alkaloid cytisine is the active substance of the drug, it has an n-cholinomimetic effect.

Its effects are expressed in the following: it excites the ganglia of the autonomic nervous system, reflexively excites breathing, causes the release of adrenaline from the adrenal medulla, increases blood pressure.

While closely related to the mechanism of action of nicotine, cytisine has much lower toxicity and a broader therapeutic index.

Cytisine competitively suppresses the interaction of nicotine with the corresponding receptors, which leads to a gradual decrease and disappearance of nicotine (tobacco) addiction.

Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetic studies in humans have not been conducted.

Indications for use

- treatment of nicotine addiction (to facilitate smoking cessation).

Physical and psychological addiction to nicotine is considered a specific type of illness that results in the inability to abstain from smoking, even though its negative effects are understood.

Contraindications for use

- hypersensitivity to the active or any of the excipients of the drug

- acute myocardial infarction

- unstable angina pectoris

- Heart arythmy

- recently suffered a stroke (within 1 month before starting to use the drug)

- atherosclerosis

- severe arterial hypertension

- pregnancy

- the period of breastfeeding

- age under 18

- patients over 65

- Lactase deficiency, galactosemia, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome (the drug contains lactose).

The drug Tabexp should be used with caution in other forms of coronary artery disease (stable angina pectoris, asymptomatic (silent) myocardial ischemia, vasospastic angina pectoris, syndrome X" (microvascular angina pectoris)), with heart failure, high blood pressure, with cerebral vascular diseases, obliterating arterial diseases, hyperthyroidism, gastric ulcer, diabetes mellitus, renal or hepatic insufficiency, with some forms of schizophrenia, in the presence of chromaffin adrenal tumors, gastroesophageal reflux disease, persons with a long smoking history and persons over 40-45 years old.

The use of the drug in patients with diseases indicated in the "With care" section is possible only after consulting a doctor.

Dosage regimen

The tablets are taken orally whole with a sufficient amount of liquid.

The recommended dose should not be exceeded.

It is advisable to start taking the drug after setting the patient to complete smoking cessation.

The drug should be used as follows: from 1 to 3 days - 1 tablet 6 times / day every 2 hours, gradually reducing the number of smoked cigarettes.

The tablet should be taken between smoking episodes to lengthen the intervals between smoking cigarettes in order to minimize cigarette consumption.

The reception interval every 2 hours must be observed.
