DESCRIPTION
Sulfur granules is a combined broad-spectrum antibacterial drug. It is a white or grayish granular powder, readily soluble in water and milk.
COMPOSITION
1 g of granulate contains 0.02 g of trimethoprim and 0.1 g of sulfadiazine.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Trimethoprim and sulfadiazine, which are part of the drug, exhibit synergistic action and, in combination, have a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action. Sulfur is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause infectious diseases. The drug disrupts the biosynthesis of folic acid and blocks the metabolism of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the development of bacteria. Sulfur, when administered orally, is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the animal. The maximum bacteriostatic concentration is observed in the blood 3 to 4 hours after application and is maintained for 12 hours. The drug is rapidly excreted in the urine.
INDICATIONS
Prescribe young cattle and small ruminants, foals, pigs, carnivores and poultry for the treatment of bacterial infections of the respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary system, skin, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, wound infections and other diseases, the causative agents of which are sensitive to the drug.
APPLICATION
Sulfur granulate is used orally in daily doses: 1 g per 4 kg of animal weight. The daily dose of the drug is given in two doses with an interval of 12 hours. Sulfur granulate is given to animals and poultry mixed with feed, or previously dissolved in water or milk. Treatment is carried out 5 - 7 days and 2 more days after the disappearance of clinical signs of the disease.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 9 days after the last use of the drug. Meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period is used for feeding carnivores or for the production of meat and bone meal.
SIDE EFFECTS
Allergic reactions, vomiting, diarrhea are possible in sensitive animals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Increased individual sensitivity to sulfonamides, dysfunctions of the hematopoietic organs, liver and kidneys. It is not allowed to apply to dairy cows.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
Store in a dry, dark place at temperatures from 0 В° C to 25 В° C. The shelf life is 3 years.
