Symptomatic therapy for adults and children over 2 years old;

For adults and children after 6 years of age, Stim is prescribed 10 mg (1 tablet) per day.

Children from 2 to 6 years old, 5 mg once a day.

The medication should be taken before bedtime.

Active substance:

10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.

Contains lactose.

The use of the drug Stim is unacceptable when:

hypersensitivity to the active substance or auxiliary components of the drug;

severe kidney disease;

pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Special warnings:

In patients with impaired renal function, the systemic clearance of Stim decreases. Despite the fact that Stim does not affect higher mental functions, work that requires attention and quick reactions is not recommended during treatment.

Pharmacotherapeutic group:

Antihistamine, selective antagonist of H1 receptors.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics:

The drug Stim is rapidly absorbed and reaches Tmax approximately 1 hour after oral administration. Smax in plasma 311 mg / ml, does not accumulate. Food intake does not decrease absorption.

Distribution:

in blood plasma, 93% is found, regardless of the amount of substance introduced

Metabolism

The drug is practically not metabolized in the liver. In the blood plasma, the peak concentration is quickly reached.

Derivation:

The main elimination half-life is 8.3 hours and the total clearance for Stim is approximately 53 ml / min.

Side effects:

From the digestive system: dry mouth, dyspeptic disorders.

From the side of the central nervous system: perhaps not pronounced and quickly passing drowsiness, headache,

fatigue, agitation.

Allergic reactions: very rarely - skin rash. The drug is usually well tolerated. Side effects are mild and transient.

Overdose:

Symptoms: drowsiness, lethargy, urinary retention, general weakness, headache, tachycardia, fatigue and irritability.

Treatment: overdose consists in gastric lavage, intake of activated charcoal and symptomatic therapy.
