Pharmacological action
Laxative.
Under the influence of intestinal microorganisms, it hydrolyzes with the formation of an active form, which causes irritation of the receptors of the intestinal mucosa and enhances its peristalsis.
Indications
Constipation due to hypotension and flaccid peristalsis of the colon.
Regulation of stool with hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures.
Preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and radiological examinations.
Contraindications
Intestinal obstruction, impaired hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal organs, peritonitis, abdominal pain of unclear origin, gastrointestinal bleeding, uterine bleeding, cystitis, spastic constipation, children under 4 years old, I trimester of pregnancy, severe degeneration hypersensitivity to sodium picosulfate.
Special instructions
Does not taste, therefore children can be added to food. Do not use daily without medical supervision for more than 10 days.
Use in children
Contraindicated in children under 4 years of age.
Composition
1 tablet contains sodium picosulfate 5 mg
Excipients:
potato starch 27.64 mg,
lactose monohydrate 58.45 mg,
povidone 2.96 mg,
magnesium stearate 0.95 mg.
Film composition:
Opadry II yellow 2.85 mg, including polyvinyl alcohol 1.14 mg,
talc 0.422 mg,
macrogol 0.576 mg,
titanium dioxide 0.695 mg,
iron dye yellow oxide 0.017 mg.
Dosage and administration
Individual, depending on the age and response of the patient to treatment.
Take orally before bedtime.
Side effects
Possible: diarrhea, which can lead to excessive loss of fluid and electrolytes, the occurrence of weakness, seizures, hypotension, abdominal pain.
Drug Interactions
When used with broad-spectrum antibiotics, the laxative effect of sodium picosulfate may be reduced.
With simultaneous use with diuretics, with corticosteroids, an increased risk of electrolyte disturbances is possible.
Electrolyte imbalance caused by taking sodium picosulfate in high doses can lead to poor tolerance of cardiac glycosides when used simultaneously.
