Pharmacological action

Espumisan - carminative.

Reducing the surface tension at the phase boundary, complicates the formation and contributes to the destruction of gas bubbles in the nutrient suspension and gastrointestinal mucus. Espumisan prevents the occurrence of image defects caused by gas bubbles during ultrasound and x-ray examination.

Pharmacokinetics

Not absorbed from the digestive tract. It is excreted unchanged from the body.

Indications

Excessive gas formation and accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract (flatulence, Remkheld’s syndrome, aerophagia, increased gas formation in the postoperative period)

preparation for diagnostic tests of the abdominal cavity and pelvic organs (including ultrasound, radiological examinations) srdlp gas formation caused by functional dyspepsia

acute poisoning with detergents containing foaming agents (as a defoamer).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug intestinal obstruction.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

The drug EspumisanВ® can be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Composition

1 capsule contains:

Active ingredients: simethicone 40 mg

Excipients: gelatin - 22.47 mg, glycerol 85% - 9.67 mg, methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 0.28 mg, quinoline yellow dye - 0 (E104) , 1 mg, dye sunny sunset yellow (Е110) - 0, 0024 mg.

Dosage and administration

Inside, during or after a meal (if necessary, and at night).

With flatulence and a feeling of fullness in the stomach for adults and children 6-14 years old - 1-2 capsules or 1-2 teaspoons of the emulsion 3-5 times a day, for infants and young children - 1 teaspoon of the emulsion 3– 5 times a day.

To prepare for x-ray and ultrasound of the abdominal organs 1 day before the study - 2 capsules or 2 teaspoons of the emulsion 3 times a day and on the day of the study in the morning - 2 capsules or 2 teaspoons of the emulsion.

To obtain a double contrast image - 20–40 ml per 1 liter of contrast suspension. In case of poisoning with detergents - for adults 50–100 ml, for children - 10–50 ml, depending on the severity of the poisoning. Infants and young children take the emulsion with food from a bottle or with liquid after a meal.

Side effects of

In some cases: individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

An overdose of Espumizan® is unlikely because of the chemical and physiological inertness of the drug.
