Selafort 15mg for cats and dogs less than 2.5 kg 1 pipette 0.25 ml pink
DESCRIPTION
Selafort (Selafort) - a drug is prescribed to cats and dogs with a therapeutic and prophylactic purpose for entomoses caused by fleas, lice and lice, otodectosis, sarcoptic mange, hookworm disease and toxocariasis, as well as for the prevention of dirofilariasis. In appearance, the drug is a clear solution from colorless to yellow, or colorless to brown, or colorless to brown-yellow, or colorless to yellow-green.
COMPOSITION
Selamectin in the form of a 6% solution as an active ingredient contains selamectin, respectively 60 mg / ml and auxiliary substances: isopropyl alcohol, butyl hydroxytoluene, dimethyl sulfoxide.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Selafort belongs to the antiparasitic drugs of the macrocyclic lactone group.
The active ingredient of the drug - selamectin has a wide spectrum of systemic nematodicidal, insecticidal and acaricidal action, is active against nematodes, insects and sarcoptoid mites parasitizing in dogs and cats, possessing larvicidal and ovocidal properties, interrupts the cycle of insect development. Pharmacokinetic properties of the drug ensure good absorption of selamectin from the site of application, long-term maintenance of therapeutic concentrations in the organs and tissues of the animal, which ensures the destruction of parasites and protection of animals from reinvasion for a month. The mechanism of action of selamectin lies in its ability to bind to receptors of cells (muscle and nervous tissue) of parasites, to increase the permeability of membranes for chlorine ions, which causes blockade of the conduction of nerve and muscle cells in nematodes, insects, ticks and leads to paralysis and death of parasites. Given that in mammals, receptors sensitive to selamectin are localized only in the central nervous system, and selamectin does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier, poisoning in dogs and cats is unlikely.
Selafort, according to the degree of impact on the body, belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses does not have a local irritant, resorptive-toxic and sensitizing effect, is well tolerated by cats and dogs of different breeds, including collies and related dog breeds. The drug is toxic to bees, as well as to fish and other aquatic organisms.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Selafort is used for cats by a single application on dry, intact skin using pipettes of various packaging. Before using the drug, remove the pipette from the blister and, holding it vertically, press the cap in order to pierce the nose of the pipette, then remove the cap and, pushing the wool between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck, squeeze the contents of the pipette directly onto the skin of the animal. The dose of the drug (pipette volume) is selected taking into account the type and weight of the animal:
Cats (kg) Pipette cap color Selamectin (mg) Concentration (mg / ml) Pipette volume (ml)
? 2.5 pink 15 60 0.25
2.6-7.5 turquoise 45 60 0.75
7.6-10.0 gray-brown 60 60 1.0
> 10 / combination of pipettes of suitable volume * / combination of pipettes of suitable volume *
Dogs (kg) Pipette cap color Selamectin (mg) Concentration (mg / ml) Pipette volume (ml)
? 2.5 pink 15 60 0.25
* for example, for a cat weighing from 10.1 to 12.5 kg, 2 pipettes with a 6% solution are used simultaneously: one with a pink (0.25 ml) and one with a gray-brown (1.0 ml) cap.
For the destruction of fleas (Ctenocefalides spp.) Selafort is used for dogs and cats once, to prevent re-invasion - once a month throughout the season of the greatest activity of insects.
For the prevention of dirofilariasis in the regions where Dirofilaria immitis is recorded, Selafort is applied to animals monthly, starting one month before the beginning of summer, the vectors of the pathogen - mosquitoes and mosquitoes, and ends no earlier than one month after the end of their summer. Selafort does not destroy sexually mature D. immitis, but reduces the number of circulating microfilariae and dirofilaria larvae, and can be used even by invasive animals.
When replacing chemotherapeutic agents in the program for the prevention of dirofilariasis, the interval between the use of Selafort and the previously used drug should be at least one month.
For the treatment of dogs and cats with otodectosis (ear scabies) caused by O. cynotis, Selafort is used once. During the treatment period, it is recommended to clean the ear canal from exudate and scabs, and in cases of complications of otodectosis with bacterial otitis media, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory drugs.
If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 1 month.
For the treatment of dogs with sarcoptic mange caused by S.canis, Selafort is used twice with an interval of 1 month; in order to prevent possible invasion, the drug is recommended: apply once a month.
For deworming dogs and cats with toxocariasis caused by Toxocara cati, Toxocara canis, ankylostomiasis caused by Ancylostoma tubaeformae, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, for prophylaxis - monthly.
