Pharmacological action
Rimantadine Actitab - an antiviral agent.
Prevention and early treatment of influenza in adults and children older than 7 years, prevention of influenza during epidemics in adults, prevention of tick-borne encephalitis of viral etiology.
Indications
Early treatment and prevention of influenza A in adults and children older than 7 years.
Contraindications
Acute liver disease, acute and chronic kidney disease, thyrotoxicosis, pregnancy, children under 7 years of age, hypersensitivity to rimantadine.
Special instructions
Compared to amantadine, it has higher clinical efficacy and is less toxic.
Possible drug-resistant viruses.
With influenza caused by virus B, rimantadine has an antitoxic effect.
When using rimantadine, an exacerbation of chronic concomitant diseases is possible. In elderly patients with arterial hypertension, the risk of developing hemorrhagic stroke is increased. With a history of epilepsy and ongoing anticonvulsant therapy with rimantadine, the risk of developing an epileptic seizure increases. In such cases, rimantadine is used at a dose of 0.1 g per day simultaneously with anticonvulsant therapy.
Prophylactic administration is effective in contact with patients (the drug is required at least 10 days after contact), with the spread of infection in closed groups and at high risk of the disease during an influenza epidemic.
During the treatment period, care must be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Active ingredient:
rimantadine hydrochloride 50 mg.
Dosage and administration
Inside (after eating) with water as follows:
Adults are prescribed 100 mg 3 times on the first day of the disease 3 times on the second and third days 100 mg 2 times on the fourth day 100 mg once . On the first day of the disease, it is possible to use the drug once in a dose of 300 mg.
Children from 7 to 10 years of age are prescribed 50 mg 2 times a day, 11-14 years old, 50 mg 3 times a day. Treatment of influenza A should begin within 24-48 hours after the onset of symptoms of the disease and continue for 5-7 days. Optimum duration not established.
For the prevention of influenza in adults, 50 mg is prescribed once a day for 10-15 days, depending on the source of infection.
For the treatment of influenza in chronic renal failure (CC less than 10 ml / min), severe liver failure, elderly patients in nursing homes - 100 mg once a day.
Side effects of the
From the digestive system: epigastric pain, flatulence, increased bilirubin in the blood, dry mouth, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, gastralgia.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, insomnia, nervousness, dizziness, impaired attention, drowsiness, anxiety, increased irritability, fatigue.

Drug interaction
With the simultaneous use of rimantadine reduces the effectiveness of antiepileptic drugs.
Adsorbents, astringents and enveloping agents reduce the absorption of rimantadine.
Urine acidifying agents (ammonium chloride, ascorbic acid) reduce the effectiveness of rimantadine (due to increased excretion by the kidneys).
Urine alkalizing agents (acetazolamide, sodium bicarbonate) enhance its effectiveness (decreased urinary excretion).
Paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid reduce Cmax of rimantadine by 11%.
Cimetidine reduces rimantadine clearance by 18%.
