DESCRIPTION

Rimadyl R for small breed dogs is a liver-flavored non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. In appearance, the drug is a light brown tablet with an embossed letter R on one side of the tablet and a dividing groove on the other side.

COMPOSITION

The Rimadyl P 20 mg tablet contains carprofen as an active ingredient - 20 mg, and as auxiliary substances - spray-dried pork liver powder, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, corn starch, lactose monohydrate, confectionery sugar, wheat germ, anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, dried corn molasses, gelatin type A, magnesium stearate.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacotherapeutic group: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Carprofen - the active ingredient of Rimadyl R - has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. Carprofen inhibits cyclooxygenase in the arachidonic acid cycle. In this case, the drug predominantly affects COX2, which is induced in response to the development of inflammation. As a result, the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins, which cause inflammation, swelling and pain, is blocked. In therapeutic doses, carprofen has a much weaker effect on COXl, and, due to this, has practically no effect on the synthesis of protective prostaglandins. Thus, carprofen does not interfere with normal physiological processes in tissues, especially in the stomach, intestines, kidneys and platelets.

Carprofen is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a peak plasma concentration in 1-3 hours after administration, with a bioavailability of more than 90%. The half-life in dogs is approximately 8 hours. Carprofen is more than 99% bound to plasma proteins. The drug is metabolized in the liver, excreted mainly in feces (about 80%), and in the urine.

Rimadyl R, according to the degree of impact on the body, belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).

PURPOSE

Rimadyl R is prescribed for dogs with inflammatory and painful phenomena arising from acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, as well as for analgesia and as an anti-inflammatory agent in the postoperative period.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Rimadyl R is administered orally in the initial period of treatment at a daily dose of 4 mg carprofen per 1 kg of animal weight. It is recommended to divide the daily dose into two doses. After 7 days of treatment, depending on clinical indications, the daily dose can be reduced to 2 mg / kg of animal weight.

In diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the duration of treatment depends on the condition of the animal and, under the supervision of a veterinarian, can continue throughout the life of the animal.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

When working with Rimadil R, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with medicinal products. At the end of work, hands should be washed with warm water and soap.

In case of accidental contact of the drug with the skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, they must be rinsed with plenty of water. People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with Rimadil R. In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of the drug into the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (with you have instructions for use or a label).

It is forbidden to use empty packaging from under the medicinal product for household purposes, it must be disposed of with household waste.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

It is forbidden to apply Rimadyl to puppy females, as well as to animals with individual hypersensitivity to its components. Rimadyl R should be administered with caution to animals with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, heart, kidneys and liver.

SIDE EFFECTS

When using Rimadil R in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications are usually not observed. Do not exceed the prescribed dose. After the use of Rimadyl R, in rare cases, functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and vomiting may occur.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of manufacture.

The drug is stored in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, separately from food and feed, at a temperature of 2 В° C to 25 В° C.
