DESCRIPTION

Ricarfa Meat Flavored Tablets is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and pain relieving drug for dogs. The drug is a dark brown tablet interspersed.

COMPOSITION

The drug as an active ingredient in one tablet contains 50 mg of carprofen and auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, red iron oxide, black iron oxide, polyvidone K30, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal silicon anhydride, talc, magnesium stearate and a flavoring agent for odor and taste meat.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Carprofen is the most studied non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic and decongestant of the latest generation for dogs in the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Carprofen inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase in the arachidonic acid cycle. In this case, the drug predominantly affects cyclooxygenase-II, which is produced in response to inflammation. As a result, the synthesis of prostaglandins is blocked. In therapeutic doses, carprofen has a much weaker effect on cyclooxygenase-I, and therefore does not significantly affect the synthesis of protective prostaglandins, the lack of which in the body can cause renal dysfunction (slowing renal blood flow), platelet aggregation, increased secretion of the stomach and intestinal glands, impaired water-salt balance,

The drug has anti-bradykinin activity, suppressing pain perception at the level of the central parts of the brain and spinal cord. Carprofen is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, and its concentration reaches a peak in blood plasma 1 to 3 hours after oral administration. The half-life is about 10 hours. Carprofen is more than 99% bound to plasma proteins and is metabolized in the liver, excreted in feces (about 80%) and urine.

Ricarfa tablets with a taste of meat, according to the degree of impact on the body of warm-blooded animals, are classified as moderately hazardous substances.

INDICATIONS

It is prescribed to dogs with inflammatory and pain syndromes arising from acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system, as well as during the postoperative rehabilitation of the animal.

APPLICATION

For dogs, the drug is administered orally, individually for 7 days, twice a day at a dose of 4 mg carprofen per 1 kg of animal body weight per day or at the rate of 1 tablet of the drug 20 mg per 5 kg of animal body weight, respectively. After 7 days of treatment, provided that the clinical condition of the animal improves and persistent positive dynamics, the dose of the drug can be halved. The duration of the course is determined by the attending veterinarian individually, depending on the condition of the animal and the nature of the pathological process.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Increased individual sensitivity of animals to carprofen. The drug should not be administered to pregnant and lactating females, puppies under 6 weeks of age. The drug is not recommended to be administered in one dose with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids, diuretics and anticoagulants. If it is necessary to prescribe the above medicines to an animal, their use can be carried out no earlier than 24 hours after Ricarf's cancellation of meat-flavored tablets or 24 hours before the start of their intake.

SIDE EFFECTS

In rare cases, when using the drug in animals, irritation of the gastric mucosa and vomiting are noted. In these cases, the use of the drug is discontinued and, if necessary, the veterinarian prescribes symptomatic and desensitizing therapy for the animal.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

The drug is used with caution in animals with heart, kidney and liver diseases.

STORAGE

Store in a dry, protected from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and animals. Separated from food and feed in closed manufacturer's packaging at temperatures from 0 В° C to 25 В° C. Subject to the storage conditions, the shelf life is 3 years.
