pharmachologic effect

Spasmodic analgesic. The drug contains the non-narcotic analgesic metamizole sodium (analgin), the myotropic antispasmodic agent pitofenone hydrochloride and the anticholinergic agent fenpiverinium bromide.

Metamizole is a pyrazolone derivative. It has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Pitofenone, like papaverine, has a direct myotropic effect on the smooth muscles of the internal organs and causes its relaxation.

Fenpiverinium, due to its anticholinergic action, has an additional relaxing effect on smooth muscles.

The combination of the three components of the drug leads to a mutual enhancement of their pharmacological action, expressed in pain relief, relaxation of smooth muscles, and a decrease in elevated body temperature.

Side effect

In therapeutic doses, the drug is usually well tolerated.

Sometimes allergic reactions are possible (skin rash, itching, very rarely - anaphylactic shock).

In isolated cases - a burning sensation in the epigastric region, dry mouth, headache.

Dizziness, decreased blood pressure, tachycardia, cyanosis are possible.

With prolonged use - cases of violations of the blood system (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis).

With a tendency to bronchospasm, it is possible to provoke an attack.

All side effects should be reported to your doctor.

special instructions

The drug should be used with caution and under the supervision of a physician in patients with impaired liver and / or kidney function, with a tendency to hypotension, bronchospasm, and also with increased individual sensitivity to NSAIDs or non-narcotic analgesics.

With prolonged (more than a week) use, it is necessary to monitor the peripheral blood picture and indicators of the functional state of the liver.

Sometimes metamizole metabolites can stain urine red.

Overdose

In case of an overdose of the drug, the following symptoms may be observed: vomiting, a feeling of dry mouth, changes in sweating, impaired accommodation, arterial hypotension, drowsiness, confusion, impaired liver and kidney function, convulsions.

Treatment is symptomatic.

Drug interactions

The simultaneous use of Revalgin with other non-narcotic analgesics can lead to mutual enhancement of toxic effects.

Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, allopurinol disrupt the metabolism of metamizole in the liver and increase its toxicity.

Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inducers of liver microsomal enzymes weaken the effect of metamizole.

Simultaneous use with cyclosporine reduces the level of the latter in the blood.

Sedatives and tranquilizers enhance the analgesic effect of Revalgin.

If necessary, the simultaneous use of these and other drugs, you should consult your doctor.
