Rennie's tablet contains antacid substances - calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, which provide fast and long-term neutralization of excess gastric acid hydrochloric acid, thereby providing a protective effect on the gastric mucosa.

Achievement of a positive effect within 3-5 minutes is due to the good solubility of the tablets and the high calcium content.

Pharmacokinetics

As a result of Rennie's interaction with gastric juice, soluble calcium and magnesium salts are formed in the stomach.

The degree of absorption of calcium and magnesium from these compounds depends on the dose of the drug.

Maximum absorption is 10% calcium and 15-20% magnesium.

Small amounts of absorbed calcium and magnesium are excreted through the kidneys.

With impaired renal function, the concentration of calcium and magnesium in plasma may increase.

In the intestine, insoluble compounds are formed from soluble salts, which are excreted in the feces.

Indications

Symptoms associated with increased acidity of gastric juice and reflux esophagitis (including those caused by an error in diet, medication, alcohol, coffee, nicotine abuse):

Method of administration and dosage

Inside, chew or keep in the mouth until completely absorbed.

Adults and children over 12 years of age (unless otherwise recommended by a doctor) when symptoms appear - 1-2 tablets.

If necessary, you can repeat the drug intake after 2 hours.

The maximum daily dose is 11 tablets.

Side effects

If the recommended doses are observed, the drug is well tolerated, however, in very rare cases, allergic reactions are possible - rash, Quincke's edema, anaphylactic reactions.

Drug interactions

Changes in the acidity of gastric juice during the use of antacids can lead to a decrease in the rate and degree of absorption of other drugs while taking them, so drugs should be taken 1-2 hours before or after taking antacids.

Antibiotics of the tetracycline series, fluoroquinolones, cardiac glycosides, levothyroxine, iron preparations, fluorides, phosphates - while using antacids, they reduce the absorption of these drugs.

Thiazide diuretics - when taken simultaneously with antacids, the concentration of calcium in the blood serum should be regularly monitored.

Anticholinergic drugs enhance and lengthen the effect, slowing down gastric emptying.
