DESCRIPTION

Quivitan (Qivitan) - a drug for the treatment of diseases of bacterial etiology in cattle and pigs. In appearance, Quivitan is an oily suspension from white to yellowish-white color. During storage, sediment may form, which disappears when shaken.

COMPOSITION

Quivitan as an active ingredient in 1 ml contains 25 mg of cefkin (equivalent to 29.64 mg of cefkinoma sulfate), as an auxiliary substance ethyl oleate - up to 1 ml.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Quivitan refers to antibacterial drugs of the cephalosporin group.

Cefkinoma sulfate, which is part of the drug - 4th generation cephalosporin, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptocostridium spp., , Actinobacillus spp ,, Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasterella spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Serratia marcescens, Histophilus somni, Arcanobacterium pyogenes, Bacillus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Bacterium spp. Prevotella spp. and Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, including beta-lactamase-producing strains. The mechanism of the antibacterial action of cefkinoma is to suppress the functional activity of bacterial enzymes transpeptidases and carboxypeptidases, participating in the binding of the main component of the cell wall of microorganisms - peptidoglycan, which leads to a violation of the osmotic balance and destruction of the bacterial cell. After parenteral administration of the drug, cefkin enters the systemic circulation, reaching a maximum serum concentration in cattle after 60-90 minutes, in pigs after 15-60 minutes and remains at a therapeutic level for 24 hours. Cefkin binds to serum proteins by less than 5%, is relatively quickly excreted from the body (half-life in cattle - 2-2.5 hours, in pigs - 9 hours), mainly unchanged in the urine. According to the degree of impact on the body, Kvivitan belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 5 in accordance with GOST 32644-2014), in recommended doses it does not have embryotoxic, teratogenic and carcinogenic effects.

PURPOSE

Quivitan is used in cattle for the treatment of respiratory bacterial infections, interdigital dermatitis of bacterial etiology, necrobacteriosis and mastitis, including those caused by E. coli, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichiosis (colibacillosis) of calves and other infections of sensitive bacterial etiology cefkinum by microorganisms. For pigs, the drug is prescribed for the treatment of respiratory bacterial infections, MMA syndrome (mastitis-metritis-agalactia), meningitis, arthritis, dermatitis and other infections of bacterial etiology caused by microorganisms sensitive to cefkin.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Quivitan is administered to animals deeply intramuscularly once a day for 2-5 days, at the doses indicated in the table.

Shake the vial with the drug thoroughly before each use.

To prevent a local reaction during the treatment of the animal, it is recommended to change the injection sites of the drug. The maximum volume of drug injection at one injection site is 15 ml.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Symptoms of an overdose of the drug in an animal can be manifested by a decrease in appetite, depression and an inflammatory reaction at the injection site.

The peculiarities of the action at the first administration of the drug and at its cancellation were not revealed. 16. The drug can be used to treat females during pregnancy and lactation as prescribed by a veterinarian.

Skips should be avoided when using the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one or more doses of a drug are missed, treatment should be resumed as soon as possible in the prescribed doses and the regimen.

Slaughter of cattle for meat is allowed no earlier than 10 days, pigs - no earlier than 5 days after the last application of Quivitan. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the established deadlines can be used as feed for fur animals. Milk of dairy cows during and the next 5 days after the last application of Quivitan must not be used for food purposes. Such milk can be used after heat treatment in animal feed.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

It is forbidden to use Kvivitan if animals are hypersensitive to cefkin and other beta-lactam antibiotics. The drug should be administered with caution to animals with severe renal impairment.

Quivitan should not be used simultaneously with bacteriostatic drugs, due to a decrease in its bactericidal activity. When cephalosporins are combined with aminoglycosides, furasemide, ethacridinic acid and / or other nephrotoxic drugs, especially with impaired renal function, the risk of developing nephrotoxic effects increases.

SIDE EFFECTS

As a rule, no side effects and complications are observed when using Kvivitan in accordance with this instruction. In some animals, a local reaction in the form of edema is possible at the injection site, which spontaneously resolves within 10-15 days. With increased individual sensitivity to the drug and the manifestation of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is stopped and antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of manufacture; after piercing the cork and taking the first dose from the vial, the drug can be used within 28 days. Quivitan must not be used after the expiration date.

Kvivitan is stored in sealed manufacturer's packaging, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature of 2 В° C to 25 В° C.

PACKAGING

The drug is packaged in 100 ml glass bottles of appropriate capacity, hermetically sealed with gray fluoropolymer rubber stoppers, reinforced with aluminum lids, packed in individual cardboard boxes. Each unit of consumer packaging is supplied with instructions for use.
