DESCRIPTION
Previcox 57mg is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has analgesic and antipyretic properties for joint inflammation in dogs. The effect of the use of the drug occurs within a few hours. In appearance, the drug is a brown, round, convex, engraved tablet with a pattern.
The drug has an attractive aroma and taste, therefore it is readily eaten by dogs, in case of refusal from the drug it is fed with food.
COMPOSITION
The drug contains firocoxib as an active ingredient - 24%; as well as auxiliary substances: lactose monohydrate - 49.3%, microcrystalline cellulose - 15%, hydroxypropyl cellulose - 3.0%, croscaramellose - 2.8%; colloidal silicon dioxide - 0.5%; flavoring and aromatic substances (flavoring with the taste of smoked meat ChartorHickorysmokeflavor and caramel) - 5%; pigments - yellow and red iron oxides - 0.4%.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Previcox is a highly selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for dogs with the unique active ingredient firocoxib.
Firocoxib is a selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), selectively disrupts the formation of prostaglandins involved in the formation of an inflammatory reaction, suppresses the exudative and proliferative phases of inflammation. It acts mainly in the focus of inflammation and practically does not affect the production of prostaglandins, which regulate renal blood flow and the integrity of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects.
Previcox is safe for long term use. Fast acting, within 15 minutes after the first dose. After oral administration to dogs at the recommended dose, firocoxib is rapidly absorbed, the maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 1.25 hours. The half-life is 8 hours. Firocoxib is almost completely bound to blood proteins, metabolized in the liver, and excreted in the bile through the intestines.

APPLICATION
Previcox tablets are administered to dogs individually orally once a day at a dose of 5 mg firocoxib per 1 kg of animal weight, based on:

The duration of the course of treatment for osteoarthritis depends on the condition of the animal and is determined by the attending veterinarian. The use of the drug for more than 90 days should be carried out under the regular supervision of a veterinarian.
To relieve postoperative pain, the drug is used 2 hours before the start of the operation, and then, if necessary, once a day, for 3 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication for use is the animal's hypersensitivity to the drug components (including a history). It is forbidden to use the drug in pregnant and lactating females, puppies under 10 weeks of age and dogs weighing less than 3 kg, as well as animals with gastrointestinal bleeding, blood diseases, hemorrhagic syndrome and severe renal and hepatic insufficiency.
SIDE EFFECTS
As a rule, side effects and complications in animals when using Previcox tablets in accordance with this instruction are not observed. In some animals, after using the drug, irritation of the gastric mucosa, vomiting and diarrhea may occur, which disappear spontaneously and usually do not require additional medical intervention. If these symptoms do not disappear, blood appears in the feces, the weight of the animal decreases, or the animal has allergic reactions, the drug should be discontinued and the attending veterinarian should be consulted.
PRECAUTIONS
When working with Previcox, you should follow the generally accepted measures of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for working with medicines. Do not smoke, drink or eat while working. After handling the drug, wash your hands with soap and water.
People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with the tablets. It is prohibited to use blisters and cardboard boxes from under the preparation for household purposes; they are placed in a plastic bag and disposed of with household waste.

STORAGE
Store the drug in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, separately from food and feed, in a dry, protected from direct sunlight, out of the reach of children, at a temperature from 0 В° C to 30 В° C. The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of production. The unused half of the tablet can be stored in a blister for no more than 7 days.
