DESCRIPTION

Prazicid is a drug in the form of tablets for deworming dogs and cats with cestodoses and nematodes. Dosage form: tablets for oral administration. In appearance, the drug is a light yellow tablet with a dividing groove.

COMPOSITION

The drug contains as active ingredients in 1 tablet weighing 200 mg: praziquantel - 15 mg and pyrantel pamoate - 50 mg, and as auxiliary substances: lactose and carboxymethyl cellulose.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Prazicidk tablets belong to combined anthelmintic drugs.

Praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate, which are part of the drug, provide its wide spectrum of anthelmintic action on all phases of development of round and tapeworms parasitizing in dogs and cats, including Toxocara canis, Toxosaga mistax, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris Ancylostoma caninum, Echinococcus granulosus, Alveococus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobotrium latum, Multiceps multiceps.

The mechanism of action of praziquantel is associated with blocking neuromuscular conduction in helminths. The mechanism of action of pyrantel pamoate is to block neuromuscular transmission, impair the permeability of cell membranes and inhibition of cholinesterase, which leads to paralysis and death of helminths.

When administered orally, praziquantel is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a maximum plasma concentration in 1-4 hours, and is distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal; excreted from the body mainly in the urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours. Pirantel pamoat is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged action on helminths in the intestines; is excreted from the body mainly unchanged with feces (93%).

According to the degree of impact on the body, Prazicide tablets are classified as low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses they do not have embryotoxic, teratogenic and sensitizing effects. Well tolerated by dogs and cats of different breeds and ages.

Prazicide tablets should not be used concomitantly with piperazine and cholinesterase inhibitors.

INDICATIONS

Prazicide tablets are prescribed to dogs and cats with prophylactic and therapeutic purposes for nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariosis, trichocephalosis, ankylostomiasis), cestodoses (teniidosis, dipylidiosis, echinococcosis, diphyllobotriosis, nematosis) and mixed cestosis.

APPLICATION

Prazicide tablets are used for animals individually, once, in the morning feeding with a small amount of food (in a piece of sausage, meat, with minced meat, porridge) in the following dose: for cats - 1 tablet 0.2 g per 3 kg of animal weight.

No prior fasting diet or laxatives are required. With a strong degree of invasion, deworming is recommended to be repeated after 10 days.

For prophylactic purposes, deworming is carried out in a therapeutic dose on a quarterly basis, as well as before each vaccination.

Violations of the drug use regimen should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in its effectiveness. If the next deworming is missed, it should be carried out as soon as possible in the same dose.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Prazicide tablets should not be used in females during the first half of pregnancy. For pregnant females, the drug is prescribed 3 weeks before the expected birth with caution, under the supervision of a veterinarian, for lactating females - 2-3 weeks after birth. Prazicide tablets should not be used in puppies or kittens younger than 3 weeks of age.

Prazicide tablets are not intended for use in productive animals.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

A contraindication to the use of the drug is an individual intolerance to the components of the drug (including a history). Prazicide tablets should not be used in malnourished, infectious and recovering animals.

OVERDOSE

In case of an overdose of the drug, the animal may experience a depression, refusal to feed, excessive salivation, and upset of the gastrointestinal tract.

SIDE EFFECTS

The peculiarities of the action of the drug during its first use and withdrawal were not revealed.

When using Prazicide tablets in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications in animals, as a rule, are not observed. With increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug and the appearance of allergic reactions, the use of the drug is discontinued and antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.

PRECAUTIONS

When working with Prazicide tablets, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with medicines. Smoking, drinking and eating are not allowed during work. After finishing work, wash your hands with warm water and soap. It is forbidden to use empty containers from the preparation for household purposes, it must be disposed of with household waste.

People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with Prazicide tablets.

FIRST AID MEASURES

In case of accidental contact of the drug with the skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, they should be rinsed with plenty of running water. In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of the drug into the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have instructions for use of the drug or a label with you).

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

Store the drug in the manufacturer's closed packaging, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from minus 10 В° C to 20 В° C. The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of production.
