DESCRIPTION
Prazicide-suspension plus is a preparation for deworming puppies of medium and large breeds with nematodes and cestodes. Dosage form: suspension for oral administration. In appearance, the drug is a suspension of light yellow color; during storage, stratification of the suspension is allowed, which disappears when shaken.
COMPOSITION
The drug in 1 ml contains: 45mg of pyrantel pamoate, 45mg of febantel, 15mg of praziquantel and excipients: polyvinylpyrrolidone, glycerin, aspasvit C-200, tween-80, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, antifoam, flavoring agent, citric acid - carboxymethyl cellulose and purified water.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Prazicide-suspension Plus refers to combined anthelmintic drugs.
The combination of praziquantel, febantel and pyrantel pamoate, which are part of the drug, provides a wide spectrum of its anthelmintic action on gastrointestinal nematodes (Toxosara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxosara mistax, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala (Trichlosturis) and vulpestod granulosus, AlveococСЃus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobotrium latum, Multiceps multiceps), parasitizing in dogs and cats.
Pirantel pamoat is a compound of the pyrimidine group, its mechanism of action is based on blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in neuromuscular synapses by depolarizing the membranes of muscle cells, which causes paralysis of the muscular system of nematodes; pyrantel is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged action on helminths in the intestine; excreted from the body mostly unchanged (93%) with feces.
Praziquantel is a compound of the pyrazinisoquinoline group that is active against gastrointestinal cestodes at all stages of development. By increasing the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes for calcium ions (Ca2 +), it causes membrane depolarization, muscle contraction and destruction of the tegument, which leads to the death of helminths and promotes their excretion from the animal's body. The compound is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a maximum concentration in the blood plasma after 1 - 3 hours, reversibly binds to serum proteins (70 - 80%), partially metabolized in the liver, re-excreted into the intestine, excreted from the body mainly in the urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours.
Febantel refers to probenzimidazoles, which are biotransformed in the body into benzimidazoles. The mechanism of action of febantel is based on inhibition of the enzyme fumarate reductase in the mitochondria of helminths, as a result of which the absorption of glucose and the synthesis of the protein tubulin are disrupted, which leads to the destruction of the microtubular apparatus of the cells of the parasite, causing its death. Febantel is absorbed in the intestine, metabolized in the liver and excreted with bile into the intestinal lumen, where its re-resorption is partially noted; it is excreted from the body both in unchanged form and in the form of several metabolites with feces and urine.
Prazicide-suspension Plus in terms of the degree of impact on the body refers to substances of low hazard (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not have an embryotoxic, teratogenic and sensitizing effect, is well tolerated by dogs and cats of different breeds and ages.
Prazicide suspension Plus should not be used concurrently with medicinal products containing piperazine and cholinesterase inhibiting agents. There is no information on the interaction of Prazcid-suspension Plus with drugs of other pharmacological groups and feed additives.
INDICATIONS
Prazicide-suspension Plus is prescribed for adult dogs and cats, puppies and kittens from 3 weeks of age for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes in case of gastrointestinal nematodosis (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariosis, trichocephalosis, ankylostomiasis), cestodiasis (teninocular disease, erythylocytosis, mesocestoidosis) and mixed nematodo-cestoid invasions.
APPLICATION
The medicinal product is administered to animals orally individually, in the morning feeding with a small amount of food, or is injected forcibly onto the root of the tongue using a syringe-dispenser. The dose for puppies of medium and large breeds is 1 ml per 3 kg of animal weight.
For preventive purposes, deworming of animals is carried out once a quarter, as well as before each vaccination.
For therapeutic purposes, as well as for the purpose of prophylaxis in case of group (crowded) keeping of animals (nurseries, shelters, vivariums), the treatment is carried out twice with an interval of 14 days: with nematodes once a day, with cestodes and mixed nematodes-cestodes once a day day for 3 consecutive days.
A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives before deworming are not required. The suspension bottle should be shaken thoroughly before each use.
Violations of the deworming scheme should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in effectiveness. If the next dose is missed, the drug must be administered as soon as possible in the same dose, then the interval between drug injections does not change.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Deworming of pregnant and lactating females, if necessary, is carried out under the supervision of a veterinarian 3 weeks before the intended birth and 2 to 3 weeks after birth.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to use is an individual intolerance to the components of the drug (including a history). Prazicide-suspension Plus should not be used in malnourished, sick with infectious diseases and recovering animals, females in the first half of pregnancy, puppies and kittens younger than 3 weeks of age.
Prazicide suspension Plus is not intended for use in productive animals.
OVERDOSE
In case of an overdose of the drug, the animal may experience a depression, refusal to feed, excessive salivation, and upset of the gastrointestinal tract. In these cases, enterosorbents and symptomatic therapy are used.
SIDE EFFECTS
When using Prazicide-suspension Plus in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications in animals, as a rule, are not observed. In some animals, disturbances in the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract (loose stools, vomiting) and increased salivation are possible, which disappear spontaneously and do not require the use of drugs. With increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug and the appearance of allergic reactions, its use is discontinued and antihistamines and symptomatic therapy are prescribed to the animal.
PRECAUTIONS
When working with Prazicide-Suspension Plus, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety precautions provided when working with medicinal products.
Do not smoke, drink or eat while working with the drug. At the end of work, wash your hands with warm water and detergent. Empty vials from under the medicinal product must not be used for domestic purposes, they must be disposed of with household waste.
People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with Prazicide Suspension Plus.
FIRST AID MEASURES
In case of accidental contact of the drug with the skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, they should be rinsed with plenty of water.
In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of the drug into the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have instructions for the use of the drug or a label with you).
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
Store the drug in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from 0 В° C to 25 В° C. The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of production.
