Prazicide-complex in 1 ml contains as active ingredients praziquantel - 102 mg, ivermectin - 5 mg, fipronil - 100 mg, levamisole - 25 mg; excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide, polyethylene glycol, Blue River perfume, butylhydroxytoluene, butylhydroxyanisole and benzyl alcohol.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Prazicid-complex refers to combined antiparasitic drugs.
Praziquantel is a compound of the pyrazinisoquinoline group that is active against gastrointestinal cestodes at all stages of development. Increasing the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes for calcium ions (Ca2 +), it causes membrane depolarization, muscle contraction and destruction of the tegument, which leads to the death of helminths and promotes their excretion from the animal's body. The compound is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a maximum concentration in the blood plasma after 1-3 hours, reversibly binds to serum proteins (70-80%), partially metabolized in the liver, re-excreted into the intestine, excreted from the body mainly in the urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours.
Ivermectin, which is part of the drug, has a wide spectrum of action, is active against larval and sexually mature phases of development of intestinal nematodes and cestodes, fleas, lice, lice, sarcoptoid, demodectic and ixodid ticks parasitizing in dogs and cats.
Fipronil, which is part of the drug, has a pronounced insectoacaricidal activity against the preimaginal and imaginal phases of development of fleas, lice, lice, sarcoptoid, ixodid and demodectic ticks.
The mechanism of action of the ivermectin, which is part of the drug, is to disrupt the transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasite.
After applying the drug to the skin, fipronil, practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation, spreads along the skin and hair of the animal, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands, providing a contact insectoacaricidal effect, which manifests itself after 12-24 hours and lasts for 4- 6 weeks after a single treatment of the animal.
Levamisole has nematodicidal activity, and also exhibits immunostimulating properties by increasing the number of T-lymphocytes.
Thiamethoxam is a compound from the group of nicotinoids, has a contact and intestinal insectoacaricidal action. As an antagonist of nicotine-acetylcholine receptors, it causes hyperpolarization of the membranes of the nerve fiber of arthropods, which leads to the death of parasites.
According to the degree of impact on the body, the prazicide complex belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), when applied to the skin in recommended doses, it does not have a resorptive-toxic, local irritant, embryotoxic, teratogenic and sensitizing effect. On contact with mucous membranes, it causes slight irritation. The drug is toxic to fish and bees.
INDICATIONS
Prazicide-complex is prescribed for adult dogs and cats, puppies and kittens, starting from 2 months of age, for the treatment and prevention of intestinal nematodes, cestodes, entomoses, otodectosis, sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis, demodicosis, and to protect animals from the attack of ixodid ticks.
APPLICATION
The drug is applied to the skin of the animal, spreading the fur, to places inaccessible for licking (in the neck at the base of the skull or between the shoulder blades); when processing large animals, the drug is applied in 3-4 places.
Depending on the type and weight of the animal, Prazicid-complex of various packaging is used in the doses indicated in the table.
Animal weight (kg) The volume of the drug per animal (ml) Number of pipettes (pcs)
Dogs and puppies up to 5 kg 0.5 ml 1 pipette
For the destruction of fleas, lice, lice and protection of animals from the attack of ixodid ticks, the treatment of animals with the Prazicid-complex is carried out once a month throughout the entire season of insect activity. The drug is applied to animals externally, by applying to dry, intact skin.
For the treatment of otodectosis (ear scabies), the drug is applied to the skin once. In the course of treatment, it is recommended to clean the ear canal from exudate and scabs, and in case of complications from otitis media, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory drugs.
In sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis and demodicosis, the drug is applied with a swab on the affected areas of the body, previously cleaned of scabs, from the periphery to the center, with the capture of borderline healthy skin up to 1 cm, in doses indicated in the table.
The treatment is carried out 2 - 4 times with an interval of 10 - 14 days until the animal's clinical recovery, which is confirmed by two negative results of acarological studies. Animals with extensive lesions are treated in two doses with an interval of 1 day, applying the drug first on one and then on the other half of the affected body surface. To prevent licking of the drug, the animal is put on a neck collar, muzzle, or the jaws are closed with a loop of braid, which are removed 20-30 minutes after applying the solution. Treatment is recommended in a complex manner using pathogenetic and symptomatic agents according to the instructions for their use.
For deworming animals with nematodes and cestodes, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, with prophylactic purposes - once a quarter at the doses indicated in the table.
If the next treatment with Prazicide-complex is missed, its use is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
