Otitis externa without damage to the tympanic membrane;
infected eczema of the external auditory canal.
Adults are instilled 1-5 drops in each ear 2 times / day for 6-10 days.
Children are instilled 1-2 drops in each ear 2 times / day for 6-10 days.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 7-10 days.
Before using the ear drops, it is recommended to warm the bottle by holding it in your hand to avoid the discomfort associated with the ingress of cold liquid into the ear.
After instilling the drug in one ear, you should tilt your head in the opposite direction for a few minutes, and then drip the drug into the other ear.
Sodium dexamethasone metasulfobenzoate 0.1 g
neomycin sulfate 1 g (650,000 IU)
polymyxin B sulfate 1,000,000 U
Excipients: thiomersal - 0.003 g, citric acid monohydrate - 0.282 g, 1M sodium hydroxide solution - 2.5 ml, macrogol 400 - 10 g, polysorbate 80 - 2 g, water - up to 100 ml.
Viral and fungal ear infections;
infectious or traumatic injury (perforation) of the tympanic membrane;

pharmachologic effect
Combined preparation for topical use in otorhinolaryngology. The therapeutic effect of Polydexa is due to the anti-inflammatory effect of dexamethasone and the antibacterial effect of the antibiotics neomycin and polymyxin B. When these antibiotics are combined, the spectrum of antibacterial action on most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms that cause infectious and inflammatory diseases of the outer and middle ear is expanded.
Neomycin is active against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae.
Polymyxin B is active against gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Streptococcus spp. Are resistant to these antibiotics. (including Streptococcus pneumoniae).
Side effect
Local allergic reactions are possible.
In case of violation of the integrity of the tympanic membrane - the risk of toxic effects on the auditory and vestibular apparatus.
In case of unusual reactions, the patient should consult a doctor about the advisability of further use of the drug.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Application in children
Application is possible according to the dosage regimen.

Do not administer the drug under pressure.
The simultaneous use of other aminoglycosides is not allowed.
With local application of neomycin or polymyxin B, the development of an allergic reaction can exclude the possibility of systemic use of other antibiotics, structurally similar to neomycin and polymyxin B.
If you are allergic to neomycin, cross-allergy with aminoglycoside antibiotics is possible.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms
There is no data on the negative effect of the drug on the ability to drive a car and other vehicles.
Overdose
Due to the low degree of absorption into the systemic circulation, overdose is unlikely.
Drug interactions
Incompatible with monomycin, streptomycin, gentamycin, amikacin, netilmicin (increased ototoxic action).
No clinically significant interaction of Polidexa with other drugs has been identified.
