Administered orally, intramuscularly or intravenously. The dose, method and scheme of use, the duration of therapy are determined individually, depending on the indications, clinical situation, patient's age and the dosage form used.

Solution for intravenous and intramuscular administration is colorless or slightly colored.

Nootropic agent. It has a positive effect on metabolic processes and blood circulation in the brain. It has a protective effect against brain damage caused by hypoxia, intoxication, and electroshock. Improves integrative brain activity. It does not have a sedative and psychostimulating effect.

Side effect

From the digestive system: rarely - dyspeptic symptoms, abdominal pain.

From the side of the central nervous system: rarely - nervousness, agitation, irritability, anxiety, sleep disorders, dizziness, headache, tremor; in some cases - weakness, drowsiness.

Others: increased sexual activity.

Contraindications for use

Hemorrhagic stroke, severe renal failure (with CC <20 ml / min), hypersensitivity to piracetam.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

There have been no adequate and well-controlled studies on the safety of piracetam during pregnancy. Application is possible only in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the fetus.

Piracetam appears to pass into breast milk. If necessary, use during lactation should decide on the termination of breastfeeding.

In experimental studies on animals, there was no negative effect of piracetam on the fetus.

Application for impaired renal function

Contraindicated in severe renal failure (with CC <20 ml / min).

With simultaneous use with thyroid hormone preparations, the development of central effects is possible - tremor, anxiety, irritability, sleep disturbances, confusion.

With the simultaneous use of stimulants of the central nervous system, it is possible to enhance the psychostimulating effect.

With simultaneous use with antipsychotics, an increase in extrapyramidal disorders is observed.
