DESCRIPTION

Pharmayode ointment is an antiseptic agent for the treatment of traumatic injuries, dermatitis, purulent-inflammatory diseases of the skin and soft tissues in animals. Dosage form: ointment for external use. In appearance, the drug is a mass of homogeneous reddish-brown consistency with a faint smell of iodine.

COMPOSITION

The pharmaceutical antiseptic ointment contains crystalline iodine - 0.5% as an active ingredient, as well as auxiliary substances: neonol AF 9-12, polyethylene oxide - 1500, distilled glycerin and polyethylene oxide - 400.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmaceutical antiseptic ointment belongs to the group of antiseptic and antibacterial drugs.

Active iodine, which is part of the drug, has a bactericidal effect against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Etc.), gram-negative (Escherichia coli, etc.) bacteria, pathogenic fungi, yeast (M. pachidermatis, Asp. Fiimigatus , Penicillinum granulatum, Candida albicans), mycoplasmas, and viruses. The mechanism of the antimicrobial action of active iodine lies in the interaction of iodine with structural and functional proteins of microorganisms. The resulting iodamines lead to a change in the conformation of protein molecules with the loss of their original physical, chemical and biological properties. Due to this, the destruction of membrane structures and blocking of biocatalytic processes in microbial cells is carried out.

When applying the pharmaceutical antiseptic ointment to the skin, active iodine is slowly and evenly released, providing a prolonged antiseptic and disinfecting effect.

Pharmaceutical antiseptic ointment in terms of the degree of impact on the body belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses does not have a local irritating effect on the skin, does not have a sensitizing, embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and skin resorptive effect ...

Pharmaceutical antiseptic ointment is not used simultaneously with other drugs for external use, especially those containing alkalis, enzymes and mercury.
