Penbex 100 ml
DESCRIPTION
Penbex is a complex antibacterial five-component drug for the treatment of large and small ruminants, horses, pigs, dogs and cats with bacterial diseases of the respiratory tract and genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system, mastitis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, leptospirosis, postpartum and wound infections.
COMPOSITION
1 ml of which contains 200,000 IU of penicillin procaine G, 250 mg of dihydrostreptomycin sulfate, 0.5 mg of betamethasone, 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate, 15 mg of procaine hydrochloride and a filler. It is a sterile white suspension for injection. During storage, sediment formation is allowed.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
The antibiotics of penicillin procaine and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate, which are part of the drug, exhibit synergism of action, thereby increasing the effect of antibiotics and expanding the spectrum of the antimicrobial activity of the drug. Penicillin procaine G belongs to the group of natural penicillins, it is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, most anaerobic bacteria and spirochetes, including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Listeria spp., Pastorysida spp., Clostridium spp., , Leptospira strains Pomona, Grippotyphosa, Icterohaemorrhagiae, etc. The mechanism of action of penicillin procaine G is to block the synthesis of peptidoglycan (the main component of the bacterial cell wall), leading to the death of the microorganism. Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group that has a pronounced bactericidal effect on gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp. The antibacterial effect of dihydrostreptomycin sulfate is based on the disruption of protein synthesis by the ribosomes of the microbial cell. After a single intramuscular injection of the drug penicillin, procaine and dihydrostreptomycin sulfate are absorbed into the blood and penetrate into the affected tissues of the animal, reaching maximum blood concentrations within an hour and remain at therapeutic concentrations for up to 24 hours. Antibiotics are excreted from the body mainly with urine and bile, in lactating animals, partially with milk. Betamethasone inhibits the activity of phospholipase, and also helps to suppress inflammation at the site of the lesion. Chlorpheniramine maleate acts as an antihistamine, and also increases the body's protective functions in diseases of the respiratory tract. According to the degree of impact on the body of warm-blooded animals, Penbex belongs to moderately hazardous substances.
INDICATIONS
Prescribed to large and small ruminants, horses, pigs, dogs and cats for the treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory system, genitourinary system, musculoskeletal system, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, gastroenterocolitis, mastitis, operating rooms, wounds, postpartum and other primary and secondary infections of bacterial etiology, the causative agents of which are sensitive to penicillin and streptomycin.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Penbex is administered to animals deeply intramuscularly once a day in the following doses: adult cattle and horses at the rate of 1 ml per 20 kg of animal weight, in the case of a severe course of the disease, as well as calves and foals weighing up to 60 kg at the rate of 1 ml of the drug per 10 kg of animal weight. Penbex is used for small cattle, pigs, dogs and cats at the rate of 1 ml of the drug per 10 kg of animal weight. The course of treatment is 3 - 5 days. The maximum volume of the drug for administration in one place should not exceed 20 ml for cattle and horses, 10 ml for pigs, 5 ml for calves and sheep, and 2.5 ml for piglets. Before use, the contents of the vial are thoroughly shaken until a homogeneous suspension is obtained. If there is no noticeable clinical improvement within 2 to 3 days,
SIDE EFFECTS

The drug is not recommended to be administered to females in the last third of pregnancy.
