DESCRIPTION

Panakur paste is an anthelmintic agent for horses in the form of a paste with the taste of apple and cinnamon. It is prescribed to horses for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes in case of nematodes. In appearance, it is a homogeneous paste-like mass of white color, with the taste of apple and cinnamon.

COMPOSITION

1 g of Panacur Paste contains 187.5 mg of fenbendazole as an active ingredient.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Fenbendazole, which is part of the drug, has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action, is active against adult forms, larvae and eggs of nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract and lungs parasitizing in animals: S. vulgaris, S. edentatus, Trichonema, Cyathostoma spp., Parascaris equorum, Ourisxy equi, Strongyloides westeri. The mechanism of action of the drug consists in the destruction of microtubules in the intestinal cells of helminths and the disruption of energy processes, which leads to the death of the parasite. Panakur Paste, according to the degree of toxic effect on warm-blooded animals, belongs to low-hazard substances (LD50 for white mice when administered orally is 10,000 mg / kg of animal weight); in therapeutic doses does not possess cumulative, embryotoxic, teratogenic and allergenic properties. When introduced into the body, fenbendazole and its metabolites are distributed throughout the body, but accumulate as much as possible in the liver. Most of the administered drug is excreted unchanged in the feces and, to a lesser extent, in urine and milk.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

The drug is administered to horses individually once individually at a dose of 1 g of paste per 25 kg of animal weight, which corresponds to 7.5 mg of fenbendazole per 1 kg of animal weight.

For the treatment of diarrhea in foals caused by Strongyloides westeri, an increased dose of Panakur Paste is effective: 24 g of paste per 90 kg of animal weight, which corresponds to 50 mg of fenbendazole per 1 kg of animal weight once.

In the treatment of cytostomes encapsulated in the mucous membrane, Panakur Paste is used for 5 days in the usual dose: 1 g of paste per 25 kg of animal weight, which corresponds to 7.5 mg of fenbendazole per 1 kg of animal weight.

The paste is squeezed onto the root of the tongue from a syringe-dispenser, which is injected into the interdental space of the oral cavity, then the animal's head is raised for a few seconds. The paste is sticky enough to prevent it from flowing out and spitting out. The volume of paste calculated for the horse's weight is set by moving the nut along the stock and fixing the appropriate dose.

For prophylactic purposes, Panakur Pasta is recommended to be administered to horses at regular intervals 2 to 4 times a year. One syringe is designed to treat a 600 kg horse. Panakur Paste can be used by sick, weak, pregnant and heavily infested animals. Before mass processing, each batch of the drug is tested on a small group: 5 - 7 low-value horses. In the absence of complications after 2 - 3 days Panakur Paste is used for the rest of the animals.

SIDE EFFECTS

In animals hypersensitive to fenbendazole, allergic reactions are possible. With proper use and dosage, side effects are usually not observed.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Increased individual sensitivity to fenbendazole.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 7 days after the drug is used. In the case of forced slaughter of a previously established period, meat is used for feeding carnivores or for the production of meat and bone meal. Mare's milk is used for human consumption 7 days after processing.

STORAGE CONDITIONS
