DESCRIPTION

Oxytocin belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group of uterine drugs. Oxytocin 10 IU is a hormonal drug, the active ingredient of which is oxytocin (a synthetic analogue of the polypeptide hormone of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland). In appearance, the drug is a colorless transparent sterile liquid with a weak specific odor.

COMPOSITION

1 ml of the drug contains 10 IU (international units) of oxytocin as an active ingredient, as well as auxiliary components.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Oxytocin improves tone and enhances the contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus. It also causes a contraction of the myoepithelial cells surrounding the alveoli of the mammary gland (which facilitates the movement of milk into the large ducts and milk sinuses), has weak vasopressin-like, antidiuretic properties.

Oxytocin 10 IU is prescribed to females of agricultural and domestic animals with weak attempts during childbirth, retention of the placenta, uterine bleeding, atony, hypotension and inflammation of the uterus, mastitis, as well as reflex agalactia.

APPLICATION

The drug is administered subcutaneously or intramuscularly. If intramuscular administration does not give a result or an immediate effect is needed, then intravenous administration of oxytocin is used, which should be injected slowly and pre-diluted with saline. If necessary, in combination with novocaine, epidurals are administered. The drug is dosed in (ED).

The use of Oxytocin 10 IU does not exclude the use of other drugs.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The drug is contraindicated in pregnant animals, during obstetrics in cases of a large fetus, fetal deformities, in the wrong position and articulation.

SIDE EFFECTS

The peculiarities of the action of the drug during its first use and its withdrawal have not been established.

When using oxytocin in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications, as a rule, do not occur.

Livestock products during and after application of the drug are used without restrictions.

OVERDOSE

Overdose symptoms: tachycardia, diarrhea, dermatitis, impaired coordination of movement.

STORAGE

The drugs should be stored in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children at a temperature of 4 В° C to 20 В° C. Shelf life is 2 years. It is forbidden to use Oxytocin after its expiration date.

PACKING

Oxytocin 10 U is produced in the form of a sterile solution, packaged in 10 ml each in glass vials, sealed with rubber stoppers, reinforced with aluminum caps.
