DESCRIPTION

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 1000 is an antibacterial drug for the treatment of colibacillosis, salmonellosis, pasteurellosis, dysentery, pullorosis, eimeriosis, respiratory infections, respiratory mycoplasmosis, and mastitis. Produced in the form of yellow crystalline powder, odorless, bitter taste.

COMPOSITION

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 1000 is an antibacterial drug containing, as an active ingredient, a water-soluble salt of the antibiotic produced by the fungus Streptomyces rimosus, oxytetracycline hydrochloride (Oxytetracyclini hydrochloridium).

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Oxytetracycline 1000 is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial drug. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, spirochetes, leptospira, rickettsia, chlamydia, mycoplasma, large viruses, inactive against Proteus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The mechanism of antimicrobial action is based on the suppression of protein synthesis.

After oral administration of oxytetracycline, hydrochloride is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, penetrating into all organs and tissues. Its maximum concentration in the blood is reached 2-3 hours after drug administration and is kept at this level for 8-12 hours. Oxytetracycline 1000 is excreted from the body partially in urine, but mainly in feces.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

The drug is prescribed orally during or after feeding, 2 times a day for 5-7 days in doses: horses - 5-8 mg / kg body weight, cattle - 10-20 mg / kg body weight, small ruminants - 10-30 mg / kg body weight, pigs - 15-30 mg / kg body weight, poultry - 20-40 mg / kg body weight.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The use of the drug is contraindicated in case of increased sensitivity of the body to antibiotics of the tetracycline series, as well as in pregnant animals. Do not give the drug simultaneously with milk, dairy feed, preparations containing compounds of aluminum, magnesium, iron, calcium. With prolonged use of the drug, candidiasis may develop, for the treatment and prevention of which the appointment of antifungal drugs is indicated.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Slaughter of animals and poultry for meat is allowed no earlier than 14 days after the drug is discontinued. In the case of forced slaughter of a previously established period, the meat can be used as feed for carnivores or for the production of meat and bone meal. Milk obtained from animals during the period of application of Oxytetracycline 1000 and within 2 days after the last administration of the drug should not be used for food purposes. Such milk is allowed to be used for feeding animals.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

Store the drug with caution (list B) in a dry, dark place at a temperature from 0 В° C to 40 В° C. The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of manufacture.
