DESCRIPTION
Oxytetracycline 200 LA (Oxytetracyclinum 200 LA) is a drug for the treatment of diseases of bacterial etiology in cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. In appearance, Oxytetracycline 200 LA is a clear, light yellow solution.
COMPOSITION
Oxytetracycline 200 LA as an active ingredient in 1 ml contains 200 mg of oxytetracycline (in the form of a dihydrate), as well as auxiliary components: 0.5 ml of methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, 5 mg of sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, 50 mg of 6-aqueous magnesium chloride, 20 mg povidone K 12, ethanolamine in the amount necessary to bring the pH to 8.7 and water for injection to 1 ml.
PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Oxytetracycline 200 LA is an antibacterial drug of the tetracyclines group.
Oxytetracycline dihydrate, which is part of the drug, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action. It is active against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including Escherichia, Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, as well as Rickettsia and some types of Mycoplasma; does not affect Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, and most fungi and viruses.
By binding to the 30S subunit on bacterial ribosomes, oxytetracycline disrupts the access of tRNA-to the mRNA-ribosomal complex, which leads to blockade of protein synthesis and death of the microbial cell.
After intramuscular administration of the drug, oxytetracycline is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the body. The maximum concentration of the antibiotic in the blood is reached after 30-60 minutes and is maintained at a therapeutic level for 3-4 days after a single injection of the drug.
The antibiotic is excreted from the body mainly with urine and partially with feces, in lactating animals - also with milk.
According to the degree of impact on the body, Oxytetracycline 200 LA belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
