DESCRIPTION

Orbenin EDC is an antibacterial drug in the form of a suspension for intracisternal administration.

In appearance it is a suspension - greyish-white greyish consistency.

COMPOSITION

The drug contains in each individual package as an active ingredient 600 mg of cloxacillin in the form of a salt of benzathine acid, and as auxiliary substances: stearic acid, aluminum stearate and mineral oil.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Cloxacillin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the penicillin group with a broad spectrum of antibacterial action, it is active against gram-positive bacteria, usually isolated from the secretion of the udder during the dry period. The antibiotic is highly active against Streptococcus agalactiae, other types of streptococci, staphylococci (including strains resistant to penicillin) and corynebacteria (Corynebacterium pyogenes).

Orbenin EDC creates a high level of antibiotic in the udder tissue and is non-irritating. Due to the combined action of the sparingly soluble benzathine salt of cloxacillin with a high degree of dispersion and a special base of prolonged action, the therapeutic effect of the drug in dry cows lasts at least 7 weeks.

APPLICATION

It is used once for the prevention and treatment of mastitis in all cows after the last milking before transferring to the dry period, but no later than 42 days before the expected calving. Milk must be milked before administration. The outside of the nipple is wiped with a 70% alcohol solution or special antiseptic wipes supplied with the drug. After that, the cannula of the syringe is inserted into the opening of the nipple, while for calm animals, only the upper part of the lid covering the cannula of the syringe is removed, and a short cannula is obtained, which, when inserted, only passes through the sphincter of the nipple, reducing the risk of infection of the udder. For restless animals, the cap is usually removed completely and a long cannula is obtained, with the help of which the drug can be guaranteed, and the entire contents are injected by carefully pressing the plunger.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Orbenin EDC is not intended for the treatment of lactating cows because cloxacillin will be excreted in milk for a long time. If the drug is mistakenly administered to lactating cows, then milk cannot be used for food purposes within 46 days. Do not use the drug later than 42 days before calving.

SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects when using Orbenin EDC in accordance with the instructions are not noted.

Milk can be used for food purposes no earlier than 120 hours after calving. Milk obtained from cows earlier than this period can be used for feeding animals after heat treatment.

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 28 days after the last injection of the drug. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used for feeding fur animals or for the production of meat and bone meal.

SIDE EFFECTS

No special precautions are required when using the drug. As with any other medicines, after work, you should thoroughly wash your hands with warm water and soap. It is forbidden to take food and water during work.

STORAGE

Store with caution in a dry place protected from direct sunlight at a temperature of 3 В° C to 15 В° C. Shelf life under the specified storage conditions is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Do not use the drug after the expiration date.
