Orbenin DC syringe catheter
DESCRIPTION
Orbenin DC is an antibacterial drug in the form of a suspension for intracisternal administration, containing in each individual package 500 mg of cloxacillin in the form of a benzathine acid salt as an active ingredient, and mineral oil as an auxiliary substance. In appearance, it is a suspension of greyish-white greyish-like consistency.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Cloxacillin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the penicillin group with a broad spectrum of antibacterial action, it is active against gram-positive bacteria usually isolated from the secretion of the udder during the dry period. The antibiotic is highly active against Streptococcus agalactiae, other types of streptococci, staphylococci (including strains resistant to penicillin) and corynebaterium (Corynebacterium pyogenes).
Orbenin DC creates a high level of antibiotic in the udder tissue and is non-irritating. Due to the combined action of the sparingly soluble benzathine salt of cloxacillin and a special long-acting base, the therapeutic effect of the drug in dry cows lasts up to 4 weeks.
APPLICATION
Orbenin DC is used once for the prevention and treatment of mastitis in all animals after the last milking before transferring to the dry period.
Milk must be milked before the introduction of Orbenin DC. The outside of the nipple is wiped with a 70% alcohol solution or special antiseptic wipes supplied with the drug. After that, the cannula of the syringe is inserted into the opening of the nipple, while for calm animals, only the upper part of the lid of the syringe covering the cannula is removed and a short cannula is obtained, which, when inserted, only passes through the sphincter of the nipple, reducing the risk of udder infection. For restless animals, the cap is usually removed completely and a long cannula is obtained, with the help of which the drug can be guaranteed, and the entire contents are injected by carefully pressing the plunger. The contents of one syringe are injected into each quarter of the udder.
