DESCRIPTION

Oflosan (Oflosan) - a drug for the treatment of animals and poultry in diseases of bacterial and mycoplasma etiology. Dosage form: oral solution. In appearance, the drug is a liquid from light to dark yellow; during storage, a slight turbidity is allowed, which disappears after shaking.

COMPOSITION

In 1 ml, 100 mg of ofloxacin as an active ingredient, as well as auxiliary components: benzyl alcohol, 1,2-propylene glycol and distilled water.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Ofloxacin, which is part of the drug, belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones, has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, inhibits the growth and development of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Campylobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus spp., Staphylococcus spp., (including penicillinase-producing and methicillin-resistant strains), and Mycoplasma spp. The mechanism of action of ofloxacin is to inhibit the activity of the enzyme DNA gyrase (type II topoisomerase), which affects the replication of the DNA helix in the nucleus of a bacterial cell. When administered orally, ofloxacin is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into most organs and tissues of the animal's body, reaching the highest level in the lungs. liver and kidneys. The maximum concentration of ofloxacin in the blood serum is observed after 1.5 - 2 hours, the therapeutic concentration is maintained for 24 hours. Ofloxacin is excreted mainly unchanged (up to 80%) and partially in the form of metabolites, mainly in the urine and bile. Oflosan, according to the degree of impact on the body of warm-blooded animals, belongs to moderately hazardous substances.

INDICATIONS

Oflosan is prescribed for therapeutic purposes to calves, lambs, pigs, dogs, cats and farm birds for respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary infections, arthritis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, streptococcosis, septicemia, necrotic enteritis, peritonitis, mixed and other diseases, pathogens of which are sensitive to fluoroquinolones.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

Oflosan is administered to animals inside once a day for 3 to 5 days in the following doses: calves, lambs, pigs, dogs and cats - 0.5 ml per 10 kg of animal weight; broilers, meat turkeys, parent broiler herd - 50 ml per 100 liters of water for drinking. In case of salmonellosis, mixed infections and chronic forms of infectious diseases in birds, the recommended dose of Oflosan is 100 ml per 100 liters of drinking water for 5 days. During the treatment period, the bird should receive only water containing the drug. The solution with the drug is prepared daily in the amount calculated for the consumption of the bird during the day.

SIDE EFFECTS

With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to fluoroquinolones, refusal to feed, vomiting, edema, and impaired coordination of movements may occur. With a significant overdose of the drug, impaired consciousness, lethargy, disorientation, drowsiness and vomiting may occur. In these cases, the use of the drug is discontinued and desensitizing and symptomatic therapy, detoxification is carried out.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Increased individual sensitivity to the drug. It is not allowed to use Oflosan in laying hens, due to the accumulation of ofloxacin in eggs, adult ruminants with developed cicatricial digestion, females during pregnancy and lactation, animals with severe disorders of the development of cartilage tissue, with lesions of the nervous system, accompanied by convulsions, as well as puppies dogs and kittens until the end of the growth period. You should not use Oflosan simultaneously with chloramphenicol, macrolides, cephalosporins and tetracyclines, theophylline and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as with drugs containing magnesium, aluminum and calcium cations, which, by binding to ofloxacin, prevent its adsorption.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Slaughter of calves, lambs and pigs for meat is allowed after 14 days, poultry - 11 days after the last application of Oflosan. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified periods can be used for feeding fur-bearing animals.
