Pharmacological properties
Sertaconazole is an antifungal agent derived from imidazole. Possesses fungistatic and fungicidal action. The mechanism of action of sertaconazole is to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol and increase the permeability of the cell membrane of the fungus, which leads to the lysis of the fungal cell. It is active against dermatophytes (Trychophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton), yeast fungi of the genus Candida and Malassezia (formerly Pityrosporum). Has antimicrobial effect against gram-positive (staphylococcus, streptococcus) bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics
Sertaconazole is poorly absorbed through the skin and has practically no systemic effect.

Do not use in ophthalmic practice. After applying the drug, the use of acidic detergents is not recommended (in an acidic environment, the multiplication of yeasts of the genus Candida increases). There are no data on the use in children.
In case of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse with plenty of water. If clinical signs of infection persist after completion of treatment, a second microbiological study should be performed to confirm the diagnosis.
