Pharmacological action

Antifungal drug from the group of polyenes. Contacting sterols in the cell membrane of fungi violates its permeability, which leads to the release of the main components of the cell. It has a fungistatic effect.

Active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption and distribution of

After oral administration, nystatin is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. When applied topically, it is not absorbed into the systemic circulation. Does not cumulate.

Excretion

Excreted in the feces.

Indications

For the treatment of intestinal infections of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) caused by nystatin-sensitive yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida during treatment of drugs that promote the growth of Candida in the gastrointestinal tract (e.g., broad-spectrum antibiotics, corticosteroids, cytostatics).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, children up to 13 years old (for tablets).

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Nystatin is contraindicated in pregnancy.

Composition

1 tablet contains:

active ingredient: nystatin - 500000 PIECES

excipients: potato starch, lactose monohydrate, stearic acid, talc, gelatin, vanillin, opadra II (including polyvinyl alcohol, partially hydrolyzed talc macrogol 3350 lecithin (soy) coloring pigment (yellow pigment) E 171 indigo carmine E 132 yellow quinoline E 104 and yellow sunny sunset E 110)

Dosage and administration

Inside, regardless of food intake. The tablets are swallowed without chewing.

Adults are prescribed 500,000 units 3-4 times a day. The daily dose is 1500000-3000000 PIECES, in severe cases - up to 4000000-6000000 PIECES.

For children over 13 years old - 500,000 units per day 3-4 times a day.

Duration of treatment - 10-14 days.

In case of chronic recurrent and generalized candidiasis, repeat courses are carried out with intervals of 2-3 weeks.

This dosage form is not intended for children under 13 years of age. For patients of this age group, a suspension should be intended.

Side effects of the

Digestive system: when taking the drug inside and using rectal suppositories, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea are possible.

Allergic reactions: itchy skin, chills, fever.

Others: there is a risk of spreading resistant forms of fungi, which requires discontinuation of the drug.
