Pharmacological action
Normax (norfloxacin) - an antibacterial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action, has a bactericidal effect. The drug inhibits the bacterial DNA gyrase enzyme, as a result of which DNA replication and the synthesis of bacterial cellular proteins are impaired. Normax acts both on propagating microorganisms, and on those at a dormant stage.
Normax's antibacterial spectrum includes gram-negative microorganisms: Escherichia coli ,. Salmonella sp., Shigella spp Proteus spr. (Indole-positive and indole-negative), Morganella morganii, Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Yersinia enterocolitica, Vibrio spp., Campylobacter spp., Hafnia spp., Provemilusa urusetliusureta Plucetauspurislutaureta influen uiidae stu aste art art art art art art spp.,. Gardnerella spp., Legionella pneumophila, Neisseria spp., Moraxella catarrhalis, Acinetobacter spp., Brucella spp., Chlamidia spp.
Gram-positive microorganisms are also sensitive to Normax: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus pyogenes, St. Agalactiae, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Listeria monocitogenes.
The drug is low toxic.
Indications
Normax is used topically for the treatment of acute or chronic infectious diseases in ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology caused by microorganisms sensitive to norfloxacin.
Inflammation of the external auditory canal (external otitis media)
acute and chronic otitis media
internal otitis media and infectious inflammation of the Eustachian tube
prevention of infectious otitis media before and after surgical interventions for ear injuries, removal of a foreign body from the external auditory canal, accompanied by tissue damage.
conjunctivitis (including gonococcal)
keratitis
keratoconjunctivitis
corneal ulcer
blepharitis
blepharoconjunctivitis
trachyoma of the eye after surgery or surgical removal or prevention
Contraindications
Normax is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or to other quinolones.
Norfloxacin is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under 18 years of age.
Special instructions
Normax is for topical use only.
To achieve a better therapeutic effect, Normax should be used in combination with systemic antimicrobial therapy (except in uncomplicated cases).
Protect solution and dropper from contamination.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms
Within 30 minutes after instillation of the drug into the eyes, you should refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention.
Dosage and administration
Locally for 1-2 cap. in the affected eye or ear 4 times a day. Depending on the degree of infection, the dose on the first day can be increased to 1-2 cap. every 2 hours.
Before applying Normax ear drops, the external auditory canal should be rehabilitated (rinse and dry the external auditory canal). Drops should be warm (have body temperature). You must lie to one side or tilt your head back to facilitate instillation. Place the indicated number of drops into the external auditory meatus. Allow the drops to drain into the ear canal by pulling the earlobe down and back. Keep your head in a tilted position for about 2 minutes. You can put a cotton turunda into the external auditory meatus. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, the use of the drug should be continued for the next 48 hours. Or as directed by a doctor. In acute and chronic trachoma, 2 drops are prescribed in each eye 2-4 times a day for 1-2 months.
Side effects of the
From the digestive system: nausea, heartburn, anorexia, diarrhea of abdominal pain.
From the side of the central nervous system: headache, dizziness, tiredness, sleep disturbances, irritability, anxiety.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, Quincke's edema.
Drug Interactions
Norfloxacin solution is incompatible with drugs with a pH value of 3-4, which are physically or chemically unstable.
Overdose
There are no specific symptoms when accidentally taking Normax inside.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, anxiety may occur.
Treatment - usual emergency measures, sufficient flow of fluid into the body, creating an acidic urine reaction to prevent crystalluria. In the use of Normax ear drops at the recommended doses, no effects of overdose were observed.
