Indications
Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the predominantly urogenital tract (including pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, epididymitis, infected adenoma or prostate carcinoma) caused by nitroxoline-sensitive microorganisms. Prevention of infectious complications during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (catheterization, cystoscopy) in the postoperative period during surgical interventions on the kidneys and urinary tract.
Contraindications
Impaired renal function accompanied by oligo- or anuria, severe liver disease, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, cataracts, neuritis, pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity to quinoline drugs.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Nitroxoline is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
Special instructions
With nitroxoline, urine is saffron yellow.
Composition
Nitroxoline - tablets, film-coated:
1 tablet contains nitroxoline 50 mg 50 pcs per pack.
Dosage and administration of
For adults, the dose of nitroxoline is 600-800 mg / day. Multiplicity of admission is 3-4 times / day. with an interval of 6-8 hours. The course of treatment is 10-14 days.
Maximum dose: 1-1.2 g.
For children, the dose of nitroxoline is 10-30 mg / kg / day. in 3-4 doses.
Side effects of the
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite in isolated cases - impaired liver function.
Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching.
From the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: in isolated cases - ataxia, headache, paresthesia, polyneuropathy with prolonged use, a case of development of optic neuritis is described.
From the cardiovascular system: in isolated cases - tachycardia.
