Pharmacological action
Elgin® is a combined preparation with antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects for topical use in gynecology.
Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal agent with antimicrobial effects. Ornidazole is effective against Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Giardia lamblia (Giardia intestinalis), as well as some anaerobic bacteria, such as Bacteroides spp. and
Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp. and anaerobic cocci: Peptostreptococcus spp.
The mechanism of action is due to inhibition of synthesis and damage to the DNA structure of pathogens.
Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. Active against a number of gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic microorganisms. The resistance of microorganisms to neomycin develops slowly and to a small extent. It is practically not absorbed through the mucous membranes.
Econazole combines the antifungal effect against dermatophytes Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., Epidermophyton spp., yeast and yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida with antibacterial action against gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus s. The mechanism of action is to suppress the synthesis of ergosterol in the cell membrane of fungi. It is fungicidal and bactericidal.
Prednisone is a dehydrogenated analog of hydrocortisone, has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and antipruritic effects. Promotes rapid reduction of itching and burning.
Indications
Adult bacterial infections sensitive to levofloxacin: caused by banal pyogenic flora
vulvovaginal mycoses, caused by fungi of the genus Candida
vaginitis caused by mixed infection.
Contraindications
hypersensitivity to ornidazole, econazole and other imidazole / nitroimidazole derivatives, neomycin and other aminoglycosides, prednisone, as well as to any of the components of the drug
organic diseases of the central nervous system children under 18 years old.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
Pregnancy
The drug Elzhina® is contraindicated in pregnancy.
Breastfeeding period
The drug Elzhina® is contraindicated in the period of breastfeeding.
If it is necessary to use the drug, breast-feeding should be discontinued.

ElginВ® vaginal tablets are for intravaginal use only, do not use inside.
Despite the fact that in clinical trials there were no changes in the blood system during treatment with ElginВ®, it cannot be used in patients with diseases of the hematopoiesis system (leukemia, hematopoiesis disorders) at present or in history.
When treating with ElginВ®, caution should be exercised in patients with diseases of the central nervous system.
Simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner is recommended to reduce the risk of relapse.
During treatment, it is recommended to select reliable methods of contraception.
During treatment should refrain from sexual intercourse.
If severe irritation occurs, discontinue treatment.

Dosage and Administration
Intravaginally.
A vaginal tablet should be administered deep into the vagina in the supine position, after hygienic treatment of the external genital organs. Before introducing into the vagina, the tablet must be held in cold boiled water for
for 20-30 seconds. After administration, the tablets should lie for 10-15 minutes.
Intravaginally apply one vaginal tablet daily at bedtime.
The average duration of a course of treatment is 6-9 days.
During menstruation, the drug Elzhina® is used as usual.
If there is no improvement after treatment or if new symptoms appear, consult a doctor.
Side effects of
From the skin and subcutaneous tissues:
angioedema, urticaria, contact dermatitis, peeling of the skin, erythema.
General disorders and reactions at the injection site:
burning, pain, irritation and swelling at the injection site, vaginal dryness (especially at the beginning of treatment).
If any of the side effects indicated in the instructions are aggravated, or you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, inform your doctor.
Drug interaction
Drug interaction of the drug Elzhina® with intravaginal administration has not been studied.

Overdose
