Neosidine 2.36g
DESCRIPTION
Neosidine - is prescribed to cattle, sheep, horses and dogs with therapeutic and prophylactic purposes for blood-parasitic diseases, incl. babaseosis, piroplasmase, fransayellosis, nuttalliasis, trypanosomiasis, theileriosis, mixed invasions.
COMPOSITION
Phenazone, Diminazen.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Combined antiprotozoal drug.
Diminazene diaceturate, which is part of the drug, has a wide spectrum of action, is active against the causative agents of babesiosis, fransayellosis, trypanosomiasis, theileriosis and nuttalliosis, parasitizing in animals. The mechanism of action of diminazene diaceturate is based on inhibition of aerobic glycolysis and DNA synthesis in protozoa, which leads to the destruction of their cell structure and death.
Phenazone (antipyrine) has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects, helps to reduce vascular permeability.
After parenteral administration of the drug NeosidinВ®, the therapeutic concentration of diminazene diaceturate in the blood is reached after 3-5 hours and is maintained for 24 hours. The drug accumulates mainly in the kidneys and liver, is excreted mainly in the urine, in lactating animals - partially with milk.
In terms of the degree of its effect on the body, NeosidineВ® belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007), in recommended doses it does not have a sensitizing, embryotoxic and teratogenic effect.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
The drug is used parenterally in the form of a 7% (in terms of diminazene base) sterile solution.
To prepare an injection 7% solution, 12.5 ml of water for injection or physiological solution is injected into vials of 2.36 g. The prepared solution can be stored in a dark place at room temperature for no more than 2 days, in the refrigerator for no more than 4 days. Boiling or heating above 37 В° C of the neosidine solution is unacceptable.
For the treatment of piroplasmosis, babesiosis, fransaiellosis and nuttalliasis, neosidine solution is administered to animals once intramuscularly at a dose of 3.5 mg of diminazene per 1 kg of animal weight, which corresponds to 1 ml of solution per 20 kg of animal weight.
For the treatment of theileriosis, neosidine is used at a dose of 5 mg of diminazene per 1 kg of animal weight, and for trypanosomiasis caused by T. Brucei (Nagant's disease) at a dose of 8 mg of diminazene per 1 kg of animal weight. The dose of the drug should not exceed 4 g of diminazene per animal.
In cases where a decrease in temperature is not observed in sick animals after the first injection of the drug and an improvement in the general condition is allowed, repeated use of the drug in the same dose after 24 hours is allowed. Sick animals are given rest and are additionally prescribed, depending on the physiological state, symptomatic agents (cardiac, laxatives, vitamins, microelements).
For prophylactic purposes, if one or more animals with signs of piroplasmosis are found in the herd, as well as after the animals have been driven to an area unfavorable for blood parasitic diseases, neosidine is used once at a dose of 3.5 mg of diminazene per 1 kg of animal weight, if necessary, the injection is repeated in the same dose in 10 - 15 days. If the calculated volume of the injected solution exceeds 10 ml, then, in order to avoid pain, the solution should be injected into the animal in several places.
Before mass processing, each batch of the drug is preliminarily tested on a small group (5-10 animals) of animals. In the absence of complications within 3 days, all livestock are treated.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
When treating animals in an acute form of the disease, due to the mass death of blood parasites, the development of intoxication, disruption of the liver and cardiovascular system is possible. In these cases, it is necessary to carry out intensive therapy, including intravenous administration of electrolyte solutions and hepatoprotectors.
It is forbidden to use the drug NeozidinВ® simultaneously with other antiprotozoal drugs.
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 21 days after the last use of the drug. In the event of the forced slaughter of animals before the established deadline, the meat can be used as feed for fur animals.
Milk of dairy animals may be used for food purposes no earlier than 5 days after the last use of the drug. Milk obtained earlier than the specified period can be used after boiling in animal feed.

It is forbidden to use the drug within 4 weeks after vaccination of the animal with live vaccine against babesiosis or anaplasmosis.
Use with caution and under the supervision of a veterinarian in collie and sheltie dogs.
SIDE EFFECTS
When using the drug NeozidinВ® in some animals, a local reaction is noted in the form of hyperemia or painful swelling at the injection site, which spontaneously disappears within a few days. Dogs may have seizures, ataxia, vomiting, and muscle tremors.
