Myoxil injection solution 100ml

DESCRIPTION

Myoxil (Myoxylum) - a veterinary drug is a clear liquid from colorless to light yellow color without mechanical inclusions.

COMPOSITION

1 ml of the drug contains 20 mg of xylazine (in the form of xylazine hydrochloride), auxiliary and form-forming substances (sodium metabisulfite, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol and water for injection).

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Myoxil belongs to the group of thiazine derivatives.

Xylazine hydrochloride, which is part of myoxil, is an antagonist of central adrenergic receptors, has a sedative, muscle relaxant and analgesic effect, stimulates both central and peripheral alpha receptors.

When administered parenterally, it causes a rapid onset of dissociated anesthesia. After intramuscular or subcutaneous administration, the onset of action of the drug occurs after 5 to 20 minutes, with intravenous administration - after 1 to 5 minutes. The duration of the sedative effect is from 30 minutes to 5 hours in cattle, from 30 minutes to 1 hour in horses, and from 1 to 2 hours in small domestic animals.

The analgesic effect lasts up to 45 minutes in cattle, in small domestic animals - from 15 to 30 minutes, in horses, the duration varies from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the dose and individual sensitivity of the organism. The muscle relaxant effect in animals occurs 20-50 minutes after the administration of the drug.

PURPOSE

Myoxil is used for farm animals, dogs and cats for the purpose of sedation, anesthesia and muscle relaxation during clinical examination, X-ray studies, to immobilize restless and aggressive animals, including during transportation; as a means of premedication for surgical interventions, painful manipulations, as well as for local and general anesthesia.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Myoxil is administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously (slowly, over 1-2 minutes). Depending on the dose of the drug used, the animal experiences sedation and muscle relaxation of varying degrees.

In cattle, myoxil is injected intramuscularly, depending on the indications, in the following doses: 0.25 ml / 100 kg of animal weight - a slight degree of sedation with a decrease in muscle tone and maintaining the position of the body in space. Used to calm an animal; 0.5 ml / 100 kg of animal weight - a moderate degree of sedation with a pronounced decrease in muscle tone (the animal, as a rule, maintains an upright position) and a small analgesic effect. Used for clinical trials, minor surgical interventions, mainly in combination with local anesthesia; 1 ml / 100 kg of animal weight - pronounced sedation and decreased muscle tone (the animal lies), a high degree of anesthesia. Used for long-term surgical interventions with possible addition of local or general anesthesia; 1, 5 ml / 100 kg of animal weight - deep sedation, with a complete decrease in muscle tone and a high degree of analgesia. It is used only for adult animals after a preliminary starvation diet for very painful and prolonged operations and during obstetrics.

In small cattle, myoxil is injected intramuscularly, depending on the indications, in a dose of 0.05 - 0.25 ml / 10 kg of animal weight (0.1-0.5 mg of xylazine hydrochloride / kg of animal weight).

Horses are injected intravenously, by jet, slowly, depending on the indications and the type of higher nervous activity of the animal, at a dose of 2.5 - 5.0 ml / 100 kg of animal weight (0.5-1.0 mg of xylazine hydrochloride /! Kg of animal weight) ... Sedation usually occurs within 5 minutes after administration and lasts about 20 minutes. For easily excitable animals, the drug is administered at the maximum dose. It is not recommended to administer the drug with the dorsal position of the animal.

Dogs, when carrying out manipulations not accompanied by painful manifestations, myoxil is administered intramuscularly at a dose of 0.05-0.10 ml / kg of animal weight (1-2 mg of xylazine hydrochloride / kg of animal weight), cats - intramuscularly or subcutaneously at a dose of 0.15 ml / 1 kg of animal weight (3 mg of xylazine hydrochloride / kg of animal weight).

Animals should not be disturbed before the full effect of myoxil. If the required depth of sedation has not been achieved, additional injections are not recommended to achieve the desired effect.

Animals after using Myoxil should be under medical supervision until the physiological state is fully restored.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

In case of an overdose, the animal may have difficulty breathing, bradycardia, in horses - profuse sweating, in dogs and cats - vomiting and / or diarrhea.

If breathing stops, the animal is advised to shower with cold water and artificial respiration. Specific antidotes for xylazine hydrochloride are alpha-adenoreceptor blockers (atipamezole, etc.), which are used in animals in accordance with the instructions for use.

In case of an overdose of the drug or to speed up the course of the animal from anesthesia, metoclopramide gadrochloride 0.5 mg / kg is administered intravenously or intramuscularly 2-3 times a day, intravenously - yohimbine 0.2-0.3 mg / kg (awax 0.5% solution); antisedan at a dose of 0.2 mg / kg intramuscularly; force diuresis. Dopamine is injected intravenously, drip (carefully!) At a dose of 10 Ојg / kg / min, 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, 0.037% sodium hypochlorite solution at a dose of 7-10 ml / kg. With pulmonary edema, hypertonic solutions of glucose and calcium chloride are injected intravenously.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindications for use is the individual hypersensitivity of animals to the components of the drug. It is forbidden to apply myoxil to animals with mechanical damage to the gastrointestinal tract (blockage of food-water, volvulus of the stomach, hernia), diabetes, with a history of impaired cardiac muscle conduction. In case of lung diseases, the drug should be used with caution in animals.

The use of the drug is contraindicated in the last stage of pregnancy (an increase in the tone of the myometrium), with volvulus and obstruction of the esophagus in dogs, as well as in cats and dogs with cardiomyopathy.

SIDE EFFECTS

When using the drug in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications in animals, as a rule, are not observed. In some animals, after the application of myoxil, a short-term decrease in blood pressure, an increase in pulse and respiratory movements can be observed. These symptoms disappear spontaneously and usually do not require additional medical intervention.

In case of severe respiratory failure, the animal is given a chest massage to restore normal breathing.

In cattle, high doses of myoxil can cause hypersalivation. For operations in cattle in a lateral or dorsal position, support the chest and, if possible, tilt the head and neck to prevent aspiration of saliva or scar fluid. The use of mholinoblockers, for example, atropine sulfate, contributes to the decrease in salivation.

In order to prevent vomiting in dogs and cats, before using myoxil, it is necessary to maintain a fasting diet for 6-24 hours.
