prevention and long-term treatment of bronchial asthma, including the prevention of day and night symptoms of the disease (for children from 2 years of age and adults);
treatment of bronchial asthma in patients with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid (for children from 6 years of age and older and adults);
prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm (for children from 2 years of age and adults);
relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in children aged 2 years and older and adults.
Chewable tablets, 4 or 5 mg
Inside, 1 time per day, before bedtime.
In the case of taking the drug in combination with food, montelukast should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.
The drug is administered to children under adult supervision.
For children from 2 to 5 years old - one chewable tablet at a dose of 4 mg once a day, before bedtime (the use of montelukast 4 mg chewable tablets is not recommended under the age of 2 years); from 6 to 14 years old - one chewable tablet at a dose of 5 mg once a day, before bedtime (the use of chewable tablets MontelarЃ 5 mg is not recommended before the age of 6 years). The therapeutic effect of montelukast develops within 1 day of taking the drug. The patient should continue to take montelukast both during the period of achieving control of bronchial asthma symptoms and during periods of exacerbation of bronchial asthma.
For prophylaxis in children suffering from exercise-induced bronchospasm: from 2 to 5 years - 1 chewable tablet at a dose of 4 mg once a day, before going to bed for 2Ц4 weeks; from 6 to 14 years old - 1 chewable tablet at a dose of 5 mg once a day, before going to bed for 2-4 weeks. In the absence of a satisfactory effect, additional or alternative therapy should be prescribed.
For the treatment of patients over 15 years of age and adults, it is recommended to use other dosage forms of montelukast (for example, film-coated tablets, 10 mg).
For patients with renal insufficiency, mild or moderate hepatic dysfunction, and also depending on gender, special dose selection is not required.
Film-coated tablets, 10 mg
Inside, 1 time per day, regardless of food intake, before bedtime.
For the treatment of bronchial asthma, relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis in adults and children from 15 years old - 1 table. 10 mg once a day, before bedtime.
The therapeutic effect of montelukast on indicators reflecting the course of bronchial asthma develops within 1 day. The patient should continue to take montelukast both during the period of achieving control of the symptoms of bronchial asthma and during the period of exacerbation of the disease.
For prophylaxis in children from 15 years old and adults suffering from exercise-induced bronchospasm: 1 table. 10 mg 1 time per day, at bedtime for 2-4 weeks, in the absence of a satisfactory effect, additional or alternative therapy should be prescribed.
For elderly patients, patients with renal insufficiency, patients with mild to moderate hepatic dysfunction, and also depending on gender, special dose selection is not required.
For all dosage forms
Montelukast is not recommended as monotherapy for patients with moderate persistent bronchial asthma.
