Mixoferon has antiviral and immunomodulatory effects. Suppresses the reproduction of DNA and RNA-containing viruses by inhibiting the expression of viral genes.
The immunomodulatory effect of interferon includes an effect on the cellular links of the immune system: it stimulates the lytic activity of lymphocytes, specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and macrophages, affects the formation of specific antibodies by B-lymphocytes, regulates the expression of KLA antigens on cell membranes and stimulates the production of its own interferon alpha.
Mixoferon in therapeutic doses is well tolerated by animals, does not have a local irritant, as well as embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and sensitizing effects.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Mixoferon is used for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes for gastrointestinal and acute respiratory diseases of viral and mixed etiology in cattle, pigs, horses, sheep and their young animals (parainfluenza-3, infectious rhinotracheitis, viral cattle diarrhea, transmissible gastroenteritis of pigs, rhinopneumonia, equine flu and other viral diseases).
Mixoferon is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The drug is dissolved immediately before use in water for injection or in sterile 0.9% sodium chloride solution at the rate of 1 dose in 1 ml of solvent. With the introduction of large doses, it is allowed to dilute 1 dose in 0.5 ml.

To increase the immunological efficacy of vaccines and sera, Mixoferon is administered in a prophylactic dose no more than a day before the use of biological products.
For therapeutic purposes, Mixoferon is used daily twice a day (with an interval of 12 hours) in the following doses: newborn calves - 7.5-10 doses, calves over 20 days - 7.5-15 doses, over 4 months and adults - 20-30 doses; newborn piglets and lambs - 4.5-7.5 doses, at weaning - 10 doses.
