Cardiovascular diseases, for adults, as part of complex therapy: inside (capsules) - 0.5Ц1 g per day or intravenously - 5Ц10 ml of solution for injections, in 1 or 2 divided doses. The course of treatment is 4Ц6 weeks.

Cardialgia against the background of dyshormonal myocardial dystrophy - inside (capsules), 0.25 g 2 times a day. The course of treatment is 12 days.

Cerebral circulation disorders: acute phase - IV, 5 ml of solution for injection 1 time a day for 10 days, then inside (capsules), 0.5-1 g per day. The course of treatment is 4Ц6 weeks. Chronic disorders - inside (capsules), 0.5-1 g per day. The course of treatment is 4Ц6 weeks. Repeated courses (usually 2-3 times a year) are possible after consulting a doctor.

Vascular pathology and degenerative diseases of the retina: parabulbar, 0.5 ml of solution for injection within 10 days.

Mental and physical overload, incl. in athletes: the optimal dosage is 1 g / day (0.25 g 4 times a day or 0.5 g 2 times a day). The course of treatment is 10-14 days. If necessary, the treatment is repeated after 2-3 weeks. For athletes - inside (capsules), 0.5-1 g 2 times a day before training. The duration of the course in the preparatory period is 14-21 days, during the competition period - 10-14 days.

Chronic alcoholism: inside (capsules), 0.5 g 4 times a day; in / in, 5 ml of solution for injection 2 times a day. The course of treatment is 7-10 days.

Pharmacological action
Meldonium is a precursor of carnitine, a structural analogue of gamma-butyrobetaine (GBB), a substance that is found in every cell of the human body.
Under conditions of increased load, meldonium restores the balance between the delivery and demand of cells for oxygen, eliminates the accumulation of toxic metabolic products in cells, protecting them from damage; also has a tonic effect. As a result of its use, the body's resistance to stress and the ability to quickly restore energy reserves increases.
Indications
Reduced performance, mental and physical overload.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to meldonium or any other component of the drug.
Increased intracranial pressure (with impaired venous outflow, intracranial tumors).

Dosing and Administration

The daily dose for adults is 500 mg (2 capsules). The entire dose is used in the morning at one time or by dividing it into 2 doses.

Due to the possible stimulating effect, the drug is recommended to be used in the first half of the day.
Side effects
Nausea, discomfort, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia; rarely - a transient increase in liver function tests, headache, fatigue, dizziness, confusion, hallucinations; rarely - impaired consciousness, rash, urticaria, itching, angioedema, anaphylaxis.
Overdose
Cases of overdose with meldonium have not been reported. The drug is low-toxic and does not cause severe adverse reactions.
Symptoms: a decrease in blood pressure, accompanied by headache, tachycardia, dizziness and general weakness.
Treatment: symptomatic.
In case of severe overdose, it is necessary to monitor the function of the liver and kidneys.
